How Would You Feel If The One Close To Your Heart Is An Atheist?

Hi learn2earn! I see:) But what if that someone is a family? Like, a brother/sister/parents? How will it make you feel, especially if you live in one roof? How about your own child, perhaps? Would you feel sad? Angry? And how would you deal with it?:) Thanks for being the first responder by the way!:D

If it's a brother in the flesh. Then I don't need to be angry at them but to be kind to them and pray for them steadfastly. I believe that God is able to change the heart of a person. In fact, only God can change a heart. I have seen it happen with a young woman who trusted Christ and was faithful to Church. Her parents are against but this young lady persisted and continued in her faith. Her attitude change, she became responsible than before, she lives a pure life. One day, the father decided to see what made her daughter the best there was. The dad went to church with her daughter and that was the day when he also trusted Christ - he became a Christian.

I was married to a man that claimed to be agnostic, wouldn't allow me to baptize my children or take them to church, when I did, I had to sneak them. This got old after 20 years and he never once would change his beliefs and I finally divorced him. I now am married to a man, who doesn't go to church as much as I wished he would, but at least he goes at times and has a deep respect for God. Far better and more loving marriage and I now can feel free to let God into my life without being scorned upon or told not to do this or that, etc. when it came to religion.

You can sometimes try as hard as you and pray as much as you can for a person to change but if deep inside they don't want to change and lock their heart against the voice of God, it's just not going to happen. And sometimes the only choice you may have is to walk away and start your life new.

Hi book! Wow, it's like one of those tragic romance stories:) Well, for me I would much prefer if my loved one (could be a boyfriend/husband/family member/close friend) has the same religion (or at least a Christian) as I have. But I also wouldn't mind if he/she has a different religion because as what I've observed, most religions' teachings, especially the well-established ones, are based on love and/or respect for mankind.

However, I wouldn't be able to understand if my loved one would be an atheist. Because so far I don't really know what their teachings are, and what their teachings are based from. As far as I know, they don't believe in God (or any god for the matter), and since I'm a true believer of God, it would really concern me if one of my loved ones doesn't. I would still respect them and love them and mingle with them but then again, I would still be bothered because as a Christian, I am taught to preach to gospel of God to mankind and let them believe that humans cannot exist without a god.

Hi OrangJuice! I agree with you. The best that we can do (as Christians and Believers of God) is to pray for them and to entrust them to God. It's not that we are treating them as bad persons or that we should treat them as bad persons because I know that they are not, it's just that they have different principles, but as Christians and believers of God, we know based from our teachings that we should help them and preach God's gospels to them. However, as you said, it depends on the right person that God chooses, than to risk it by ourselves.

Hi whizkid! I'm so sorry to hear about your predicament. Yes, it is very difficult indeed and really awkward when the atheist that you love says such things that our conscience couldn't bear (e.g. God does not exist). For me though, as I consider myself as a true believer of God, I am already confident and firm of my faith and belief, so I'm really not that worried for myself if I'd hear an atheist say such things. Instead, I'd be more concerned about them because, based on my beliefs as a believer of God, they will be in great trouble if they don't believe that God exists. Yes, we can hardly do anything about it because it's very difficult to convince someone especially when it comes to their principles/faith, the least we can do is to pray for them and entrust them all to God who knows what to do. God will make all things beautiful in his time.

Oh, whizkid, it's quite difficult!
Once my parents arranged me a blind date with an guy. I like him very much at first glance. It was said he also like me. Then we talked further. I told him I believe in God, and he told me he is an atheist. - In fact, atheist is so common in China. Then after a date, he said good-bye to me because he cannot accept a Christian, he thought it was troublesome. It made my father so angry to me - my father is also an atheist. He don't accept I'm a Christian in fact - But I'm his only daughter.
Then half an year later, the guy called my father's friend and told them he couldn't forget me. I was abnormal then, and my faith was weak, I dated with him again. After dinner on St. Valentine's Day, he refused me again. I was so sad then. But when I cool down, I'm so lucky because God never leave me. (He is not fit for me indeed, but I was blind then.) Though I'm single now, but I'm happy and I felt my life is changing from the within.

Sometimes I must face the temptation from the evil one or the anneal from God. What a Christian should do is to believe in God steadfast.

No touch happend,and then,keep you as single for God's time not come.
we are as half of jar not complete,we know,marriage made tow of us as one and the tow halves became one and complete.Half of jar can not keep the holly spirit as water from heaven,now tow halves became one and can keep the more grace and more water as holly spirit.
