Of course if it happen to me I would feel depress is a natural reactions. But, if you always think of it you would feel pity more of yourself and weaken your desire to live. When, you always think of your illnesses it may weaken your own positive disposition in life leading to negativism which is not a right attitudes. People who once healthy may get shock out of her life when diagnosed with this kind of diseases, but it is not their choice to have it as they only becomes unlucky to have it. Sometimes they get the diseases not from neglect but accidentally from other person infected of this disease which is not their fault.
Their are curable but in the long run but once their is a scarring it may be heal but still scar visible in x-ray. If the person having cure of this diseases but could not still work overseas. Their are many alternatives livelihood, one could start her own business or be self-employed or rather seek other countries who have less stringent requirements in terms of medical condition that are allow. In your friends cases she could find another venue to uses her skills and talents not just in going to abroad. For the meantime your friend need a lot of encouragement rather than neglect. This is the right time for you to show her your love, are and understanding to give her much support that she would be cure with her diseases.

Tuberculosis can be cured. If I'd be diagnosed with such disease, I would probably react, the same as most people feel, be in denial, be angry and be depressed. All people pass these stages. I think, what you can do to is to be with her all the way, let her express all her emotions.

having a permanent disease is not actually end of the world. well, at first the feeling would be like that but come to think of it, you would still feel lucky at least you are still alive. it would take some time to be able to accept the condition, eventually you would. pulmonary tuberculosis is already treatable these days. Its a matter of getting the right medication for the disease to be address properly. your friend still has reason to be thankful for the life she has and in time s/he will be able to accept it. just keep praying for strength and peace so s/h will be able to do something worthwhile.

Your friend gives herself too much pressure.
your support is very very important at this very moment, just try best to bring her happiness to distract her from depression.
I don't know what's your friend's hobby, but you can start your help from here.
For instance, if she likes movie, just persuade her go to cinema together and leave everything behind...
