Here it is the last day of September and already we have a frost warning in effect until tomorrow morning, October 1st. We barely had a summer here in Ohio, very few days about 82 degrees and it was a beautiful summer that was very cool. In fact, we had the second coolest July on record for my area of southwest Ohio! Is winter coming to your part of the world? If so, are you surprised how quickly the weather turned chilly? Or are you in a tropical climate that's doesn't have snow or cold weather?

We have had a few frost warnings already here in Newfoundland but that is normal since we are an Island in the middle of the North Atlantic. The days are not too cold and pretty mild but the nights are very damp and cold. I suspect the snow will start falling by mid to late October and that's when the real fun begins...lol

We may see snow early here, about the same time you say yours will begin to fall. Last year it didn't snow till the end of November but it's been unnaturally cool this summer and got cold so quickly! I didn't know Newfoundland was an island, I'm ignorant! Is it big? I picture it as a little place with high cliffs and sheep pastures.

Yes Newfoundland is an Island off the East Coast of Mainland Canada. You can only get here by boat or plane and yes, it is very big. In fact, I think it is the second or third biggest island in the world...I could be wrong but it is up there among the biggest! I have not seen many sheep pastures, but there are lots of cows...lol....and yes there are lots of high rocky cliffs! It is actually quite remote with a population of only maybe 500 000 on the entire island and outside the village, the coast is littered with small outport fishing communities. The island is very scenic but winter is not the ideal time to visit. I only moved here from the mainland 9 years ago and my first winter here almost made me pack up my bags and go back home as 21 feet of snow fell over 6 months and the temperatures dipped to 40 below Celsius (not sure what that is Fahrenheit but its cold!)
