I've finally got all the things lined up to turn in my award application.

I've been planning to apply for this big award for emerging leaders in the disability rights movement. It's due tomorrow and until yesterday my mentor (the person who agrees to Shepard me through the award process and make sure I do what I say I'm going to do) hadn't turned in her required essay which, of course, was weighing on me. I've known this person since I was 14, and I used to say that when I grew up I wanted to be her. The essay she wrote was really nice, but she sent it to me in read only format. I think so that I couldn't change what she said. I would never do this. I'm a little offended. Although, I might be taking this the wrong way. Would you be offended if you were in my shoes and what would you do about it? I'm quite sure there are people you would have to do that with, but I'm not one of them and I'm bothered that she thinks I am if that is in fact what she's thinking. So, once again, what should I do?

I hope that it went well for you. Personally I wouldn't be offended. Some people like to help others in a particular way that might seem bossy. A occupational therapist really helped me by filling in the forms necessary to assist my son that had spina bifida and hydrocephalus.

Good luck on getting it. I would not be offended, people do things their own ways and you might be taking it wrong.
