I think children will not listen to warnings, maybe if you can give him some temptation, for instance take him out to the super market and buy him a bike or small gift, then he will go out with you, and can shopping with you for a long time. Or buy him one or two books, when I was a child, I prefer reading than watching TV, I can read my story book with TV on, without notice that the TV is on! try to cultivate his reading habit, that helps! Courage him to go out and compete with other children outside, children are easy to get along with each other, once they begin to talk, then they become friends!

When my grand children stayed with me I put the television on a timer. It would allow them to turn the television on around 2 p.m. and it would turn off at 9 p.m. It worked well until my son in law's uncle by passed the timer so that they could watch television as long as they wanted...which was interesting as I owned the television which is in the house that I owned and payed the expenses on. Anyhow there is two ways to deal with the over inculgance in television. Either the timer or figure out which breaker switch operates the electrical circuit that the television is on. Then flick the switch to turn off the television and inform your son that television time is over and it won't come on again until the evening news comes on. Your son needs to go outside in the fresh air and interact with his peers. Soaps aren't the best thing for him to be watching anyhow. (I found years ago that the important stuff happens on Mondays and Fridays. So you could relent and say okay catch up on Monday and Friday but the rest of the week is for outside and playing with friends.)

I think your method is effective and worth putting into practice.Yes even i feel the programs give a summary on one day a week and if we watch on that day it will suffice.Thank you.
