I have a problem with my 5 year old tabby cat. He is severely overweight and he wants to eat all the time. I have him on a diet and he eats dry food in the morning and wet food at night. I do not feed him in between unless it is a treat mid-day if he is really bugging me. I am careful not to overfeed him and rarely give in to his cries. Thing is, he cries all day and night for food and it is annoying!! I asked the vet about it and he said he is healthy but is overweight and recommended I feed the other cat in the other room, keep their bowls separate, etc....I have done all that and still, he is always hungry...lol...he does have underlying health probem that have been dealt with by the vet. He has problems with his urinary tract and sometimes gets blocked but other than that, he is in goog health. Do you think maybe it is the special vet food that is making him fat?? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I have the same problem with my dog. Gus will eat anything at any time! He'll push Cookie away and steal her food so I feed them in separate rooms. Gus isn't severely overweight but he could lose a few pounds. I started feeding him a little dry dog food and lots of vegetables! Over the last month he's dropped a pound already. Can your cat eat vegetables? Green beans are good for them and very low in calories. Gus' favorites are mixed vegetables, squash, apples, broccoli and spinach. I put a dab of yogurt on top and he acts like it's a gourmet meal!

If I tried to feed my cat vegetables, I would be ripped apart. We are talking about a 24-pound cat here...lol...he is quite fussy and he can be a little violent when he doesn't get his way!
