There are two that I remember enjoying hearing about in the news. That was president Reagan and Jimmy Carter. I was a wee gal when carter and Reagan were president. Carter had a good heart and was right on many issues regardless of what many republican opponents thought. Reagan was stealth in many issues of nuclear ties and foreign relations. That's just me what about you?

For me, it has to be FDR and not just because he was in office longer than any president past or future. He really stepped up to the plate at the time Americans most needed leadership and in so doing he changed the country and the world. It's hard to believe Americans didn't even have social security numbers until his presidency. Even though he made mistakes (the Japanese internments), he did incredible things, many of which we hear little of: when he extended the WPA to cover the arts, he literally saved the arts in America. Every major American writer, painter and musician of his era worked in the WPA at some point. PS: It's nice to hear somebody say something nice about Jimmy Carter for a change. People forget that Reagans's end of inflation started with Carter's appointment of Paul Volker. Also, he was a Southerner with an excellent Civil Rights record and I definitely think he (And Bill Clinton also) should be listened to when they speak up about racism.

True, I like both carter and fdr because FDR was married to one of the best first ladies the state's has ever seen. Carter just had such a good heart that I said him. I was a little kid when carter was in office!
