homework

I never had this problem with my children. I took away everything from everyone till they were all done with their home work. It worked pretty good with my children.

I usually tell them to do their homework first then they can do anything they want afterwards, be it watching TV, playing in the yard or forever stuck on the computer or the Wii. My youngest daughter always tells me when I begin lecturing, "We know, work first before pleasure". In the end, this serves as an incentive for them to finish homework quicker so that they can have more time to do other things. My concern though is that if they hurry too much then they often make mistakes or do not even bother thinking/looking up answers. They ask me outright for the answers which I often refuse to give. I might give hints as to how they could arrive at the answer but nothing more than that. In addition, I usually check their homework just to make sure that they make a reasonable effort to produce acceptable results without doing the homework for them.

Hello bounce. :). I'm not yet a parent, but I remember my Mom checking on us if we have homework back then. The cookie price for a homework done always did it. :). I hope this will work on your kids. :)

Oh I remember those days and I don't miss it at all. How about bribing them. If you get the homework done fast then you get to watch TV, Movie, play games on the computer. What I use to do was let them have a snack and relax for half an hour. Then the homework had to get done completely before dinner. Of course there were times that they would find everything else to do then the homework. Thats when I would tell them ok then no TV tonight. That usually worked.
