This is interesting! It seems that I have returned to my childhood years! I have only just become interested in the world of Meccano! I never had a set during my childhood and well I thought I would pick a set up. I started putting all the bits together and have suddenly realised that I am hooked for life! I have decided to take this up as a hobby. On the box it clearly says for ages 8 upwards, I don't care about that though! I know that there are a lot of adult Meccano enthusiasts out there. Anyway, I'm enjoying putting the bits together and seeing the end result and it really does keep your mind occupied. So, do you have a Meccano set? Is this a serious hobby of yours? Share those thoughts! Andrew

I think that Meccano sets are still pretty popular! It really gets you working with your hands and building something from scratch, I really like this idea and as mentioned, I'm hooked for life now. I'm 34 years of age but I don't think that really matters. Anyway, I'm looking out for my next set real soon. Andrew

I had a Meccano set as a child but I didn't play with it much, in fact I would get frustrated with it and would bend the pieces which were no good afterwards, I was more of a lego person to be honest, I loved lego and spent hours and hours constructing things from lego. Lego was more solid, more durable and more enjoyable to play with. I think the meccano got banished to the cupboard in the end whereas lego I played throughout my childhood. I didn't realize they still sold meccano? And besides why should children have all the fun eh?

Hi wolfie, so you experienced maccano too? I sure do like what I have experienced so far! I'm definitely hooked for life now that I have actually bought my first set! I'm going into London on Sunday with a friend, he wants to pay a visit to Hamleys as he wants to pick up a model kit! I thought I would go with him and see if they have any maccano sets! I just like the idea that it keeps your mind occupied! Well, I'm struggling with one part but I'm not giving up! As the Americans say, "It's not over until the fat lady sings!" Andrew
