Yes I know this is kinda silly I suppose. But if you've seen my other thread I normally make the chicken in the crock pot. However, with having a dead crock pot I will have to bake the chicken in the oven for dinner tonight. How long do you all suggest I bake a fresh stuffed (with stuffing) chicken & @ what temp in a gas oven? thanks...

Depends if traditional if I remember right. You have to leave it 1 to 2 hours in the oven and check if it has some blood still.(The time is based on heat) If its a precooked chicken. Just warm it up. Then server the chicken.

I hope I have the time for it to bake before hubby leaves for work. Nope not a precooked chicken, I don't usually buy those too often.

I have not raosted a whole chicken for so long I had to think about it - I think 1 eo 2 hours depend on the size as others said. What I would like to know is how long you would cook a whole stuffed chicken in a slow cooker, I have never done that before - if it is set for high,, how long would you cook it for?

You set it on low for I'd say 6hours. You make 3-4 foil balls for it to sit on in the crock. Mine usually falls appart eventually, so don't expect it to come out as a whole chicken unless you can watch it. http://www.recipezaar.com/Whole-Chicken-Crock-Pot-Recipe-33671 I skip the seasoning as the ones I pick up on markdown @ the grocery store are usually stuffed and the skin is seasoned as well. I think though the time will make a difference if you put it in thawed/fresh vs frozen. I don't use a lil pop up dealie either usually it's not hard to figure out if it's done it falls appart & tender.

Thanks, I am looking forward to trying a whole chicken in the slow cooker (SC) - I will have to make sure I buy one that fits...lol. Recently I bought a Turkey Drumstick to cook in my SC, it is not like a chicken drumstick it is alot bigger and I thought it would fit. But in the end I have to cut in up to get it all in because the bone running through the middle was too long. My SC is not that big.

I would say cook it at about 350 degrees for roughly an hour or a bit more as chickens are small and don't take all that long. Baste it to keep it from drying out ever so often as well. Hope I am right. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

It does depend on the size of the chicken. However, there are some cooking times listed here: http://www.roastingtimes.com/

If you have a meat thermometer, the chicken should be 173 degrees farenheit to be fully cooked. Check the thickest part of the meat for the temperature. Or in celcius it would be roughly 78 degrees. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~
