Mistakenly downloaded a cyber protection software that I can't get out of my computer. I get annoying pop ups from them every 3-5 minutes wanting me to buy this program and telling me I have all these viruses and bad files etc. I run McAfee, I installed avast tonight hoping they would find it and nothing. Why does this not show up in all programs? How do I get rid of it? My computer is almost unusable now as if I dont say yes and install when prompted, it shuts my computer down then I get a message from Windows telling me to update my anti virus software. It is updated..Does anyone know how to fix this..please?

As you have mentioned you have already installed spybot.. which is really powerful tool to remove spywares and malwares. but if it doesn't work. I suggest you now once format your system by expert and buy Norton/Mcafee antivirus and also install windows defender and antibot spy and destroy and zonealarm free firewall. all these security suites may slow your system little bit.. but it's really necessary to secure your system first, because your all important data and work will be no more if some serious threat attacks.. and yeah if you know some computer tricks. Just view the following site : http://www.spywares-remove.com/remove-cyber-protection-center it's way to get rid from Cyber Protection. You can also download freebie antivirus ( but I haven't tried so can't say it's recommended) Good Luck.

Try this....www.malwarebytes.com....it's free and worked on my computer to get rid of a very hard virus called Vundo H. It's the only thing that worked for me after a week of crap. You can also find information about Malwarebytes on Cnet.com also. I have NO AFFILIATION with these sites. It might be worth your time to try it and save some money maybe?

Here is the link to cnet and to malwarebytes for you....they also have a review of it for you to read. Cnet is an excellent site and you might want to keep it around, they talk about many things and do unbiased reviews. Good Luck and I really hope it works for you as it did for me. We'll keep our fingers crossed, lol! And again, I have NO AFFILIATION with this site, it's just for technical use and information. The home page for Cnet is www.cnet.com...... ....http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html..

This happened to me about a month ago, I had to get a fella to come out and find it and it took him awhile and he found it was a very clever program that embeds itself into your computer but the fella I got to remove it was a little cleverer as he used to be a very good hacker...if it was the same one I had it is a very hard thing to get rid of....if I remember it had windows in the initial name telling me my computer was being attacked which mande me think I had to press the button, good luck with it anyway...

lilaclady Thanks for responding. It sounds to me like we got the exact same thing. I was tricked into downloading it because I thought it was from windows and it wasn't. I tried to stop download half way through, but could not. I have uninstalled it but there are leftover files on C that when I try to delete them. I get a message saying..Destination folder access denied. You need permission to perform this task..PERMISSION FROM WHO?? Its my computer,,they cant be telling me that this security software has rights over me or can theyy? I just cant do a complete recovery as I have too much to loose, especially pictures. Guess I am going to have to take it to a tech. too..Like I can really afford this right now. In this area they get some 30.00 per hour..Im so mad I could scream..Thanks for your good wishes just the same..J

sulsisels dont you have to go to uninstall a software in order to get rid of this particular software? I 'think that is what my son the computer genius always' does when he doesn't want a certain software any longer. Why not try free AVG 8 and see if it won't get rid of it. its a great free virus protection and really works'I do not bother withexpensive mcafee and norton, because they really'are not as good as AVG 8 is.

Hi Hatley I ended up moving the files to a different place so that they couldnt be found then I was able to delete them from there..Thank the Lord thats over..I spend days and days on that problem and learned a valuable lesson..Make sure you know what you are downloading even if it says Windows or whatever cause as in this case, it may not be what it appears!!! Thanks for your help J

Hi UCantSeeme Thanks for responding. I already downloaded avast and ran it yesterday and it did not fix it. I also tried Spybot Search which was recommended by Windows and that didn't work either. I'm going to try one more, mawarebytes, and if that dosent work, I'm going to have to take it somewhere. I was able to get most of it out by downloading a microsoft uninstaller that I found, but there was leftover stuff in my files that I can't delete as I said in my other post Destination folder acess denied..I really appreciate your help however, and hope I'm not annoying you like the girl that posted above you...I'm just trying to fix a problem, not bother people..sigh..J
