What was the last museum, parade, festival or car show that you went to?

This category is pretty broad because different people have different interests. I myself like car shows and museums, but I know some prefer festivals and parades. So when was the last time you got to go to a parade or festival? Or to a car show or a museum? Did you go to more than one of these? Most festivals have parades, did you get to see both?

We just took our grandchildren to a very interesting place in West Chester, Ohio called Entertrainment Junction that had several interactive programs to choose from and one of them was called the American Railroading Museum. It looked at the role that railroads have played in changing our lives. The detail to the train exhibits was amazing and everything about the place is very informative and interesting. I loved how they made a game out of it for the kids and parents to try and spot certain items or places all along the train displays. It kept the attention of our grandchildren for hours (a huge accomplishment for kids as young as our grandchildren). In addition to the museum, they have one of the largest model train displays that I have ever seen and imaginitive play areas and funhouses for the kids to explore and enjoy. There is also a Historical Library and seasonal attractions.

That sounds like an excellent museum. And I know how hard it can be to keep kids' attention, at any age. So that was quite an accomplishment. Our local train museum has a special Haunted Exhibit each Halloween. I received the opportunity to go with some friends one time, and it was exceptional. I have been to one other train exhibit, that was a small one in St. Louis. But I am sure neither of these were anything compared to what you have discussed here. Thank you for your response and have a great day here on myLot!

The Halloween attraction is also the one that my grandchildren and I saw here in Ohio. It was a lot of fun and very kid friendly so as not to scare them. I appreciated that. Thanks for mentioning that St. Louis offers a train museum. We were thinking of having one of our family reunions in St. Louis and I was wondering what might be of interest there (other than the arch) and now thanks to you I know to research the possibility of visiting museums of interest there.

St. Louis is one of the best cities for free attractions. I have been there a couple of times and was really impressed with their zoo, especially since there is no admission fee. You only pay for parking, which is great if you have a van full of kids. LOL I have recently written an article about traveling to St. Louis on a budget. It includes a number of different sites to see there for free. Here is the link: http://www.ehow.com/how_5555337_travel-st-louis-budget.html I hope you and the grandkids will enjoy your vacation. Have a great day!

The last parade I went to was a couple of weeks ago, the local high school had a homecoming parade and my kids and I went to watch. I went to a few museums in July since we were on vacation. We went to the Indianpolis Children's museum and that was really nice. We also went to the Dinosaur Museum in Pigeon Forge, TN and we went to Wonderworks which is sort of a museum and sort of an attraction.

Hi there LadyM and thank you for your response in this discussion. I went to Wonder Works last April when I was on vacation with my mom and my niece. We were three different generations, and we all three loved it. As a matter of fact, at one point we got separated. And I thought that my mom may have gone out to the car. She was on one of the machines back in a corner, and we couldn't find her. It was hilarious, because she was having just as much fun as us, and didn't want to leave.

Sorry have not been to a car show in a while, and the last festival was 2 years ago and was the local 4th of July festival in my town.

Hi, kykidd. I went to the museum about three to four years ago. Me and my family went to one in Columbia. I went to a parade about five years ago. I enjoyed both of them. We have a museum right in our hometown. I have always thought about visiting it so that I can see what all artifacts that they have to offer. I love looking at the ancient statues.

I really enjoy checking out the statues in the different towns that I go to visit. For one, they are free...he he he. But, there is also usually some kind of historic marker nearby that you can read and learn about the statue and other things that have happened in the area. I haven't been to a parade in a different town in a long time. I hope to go somewhere different each year, and see what each town has to offer. Although, there are a lot of places I love to go back to and experience over and over. Plus, see all of the things that I missed the first time around!

I have to admit that, as far as I can remember, I have never been to a parade or a car show. We don't have parades in my country, and regarding car shows, I haven't had anyone to go with. Just recently I found out that my best friend is into cars since his family owns an auto mechanic workshop and he started working there, so I will probably go to some in the future. The last museum I went was the museum of contemporary art in Skopje. The exhibits were good, but the bad thing is that there weren't many. The last festival was the Skopje Biennale this summer. I was pretty good and it was good to see artists from all over the world.

Hi there techgurl, and thank you for your response in this discussion. It is good to see that there are a few people who still like to go to museums and festivals. It sounds like that was an art festival that you went to, which is kind of a bonus. You get the kind of art museum appeal along with a unique festival. There was an art feat here a couple of weeks ago, and it was similar to that but on a much smaller scale. However, we did enjoy ourselves. Thanks again, and have a great day here on myLot!

I’m not into artifacts or something so no museum for me for a very long time now. We have had parades this year here in the city but I never join or watch it. One time, I was hanging out at my usual place; there was a car show I didn’t expect. I just notice that people were coming and cars were pouring in on the road. Kind of cool thing to watch because of the cars and its colors. But too bad, I’m not into cars that much.

I'm really into car shows. I find it really exciting to see all of the work that some people put into their vehicles. Thank you for responding in this discussion, and have a great day here on myLot!

I like museum and plays, I can not remember the last time or if I have ever really been to a festival or parade. I went to a museum last year with my husband and my Dad - it was a nice day out and very interesting because all three of us like museum. They do a car show in the Docklands (London) every year, I looked around last year but not this year. I like car whos as well.

I like just about any kind of car show. And when I go to a festival, I will generally look to see when their car show is and plan my day around it. A lot of times, it is the day before the parade, or maybe the morning before the parade. Then the winning cars will be in the parade with their trophies displayed from the car show. I also like watching parades, but haven't seen one in quite a few years.

I have heard of Davao City when I was in the Philippines. I think that is where my friend was going to look for a van or suv for sale. There must have been a used car dealer there. However, there were too many people, so I didn't take the opportunity to go along. I don't know if I will make it back to the Philippines, but if I do, I will keep that in mind. It sounds like a great festival with a lot of events.
