Climate Change Ad Set To Frighten Children

I read an article on Register.com this morning which pointed out the pitfalls of a new ad calculated to frighten the children on the subject of global warming. I am one of the doubters when it comes to global warming myself. Or at least the reasons for it. It seems the folks across the pond will get a chance to see the video(government sponsored), that is guaranteed to strike fear in the hearts of little kids - complete with a scene of a little dog drowning. I believe that there are some who have become fanatical about the whole issue of global warming, and like the article says, it is going to backfire on them. What are your thoughts on this?http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/10/09/tv_climate_ad_drowning_dog/

My thoughts? You ask for it! I am one who believes in the global warming and have voiced my opinion on how stupid I think the government looks when any of them cackle about how stupid the global warming thing is. As far as the video goes I think that parents need to step up to the plate here. If they feel their child is too young or too sensitive or both to see such stuff they shouldn't allow their child to see it. On the other hand, I also think that kids (age appropriate only) should know what is going on in the world and should be educated on such things.

Even if it's mis-education, celticeagle? There is plenty information out there for those who are willing to sift through it to dispute the theory of global warming. I am well aware that people often like to believe that we are in control of everything, but we really are not. I think it's wrong to frighten children in order to further a theory that has not been proven.

I agree. Maybe they feel that if they cant reach the parents they will work on the kids.

It has become the thing to do, Hatley, - get to them while they are still young and impressionable.

Well, you are one of the few people out there who will actually come out and admit that they do not believe in Global Warming. I wasn't too sure about it, and didn't really have much of an opinion until I watched a Science documentary on television. They have proven that the Earth is not going to end from Global Warming, and I guess only about 7 percent of the people still believe it to this day. But, it seems like that is always the ones that you are hearing from. According to this documentary, the Earth is most likely in between two Ice Ages. And the second Ice Age will most likely be will ends the world as we know it today. I guess, if our space program can figure out a way for people of the future to live in outer space, then that will be helpful in the future.

The space program is actually looking to the future, kykidd, in order to prepare a place for survivors to go in case the likely event of the destruction of much of this planet takes place somewhere in time. I too had my doubts about global warming from the beginning and have researched a great deal about whether it is the truth or just the current popular bandwagon that everyone wants to jump on. A vast majority of scientist do not believe in global warming, as you stated.

Yeah, it is frightening no only to children but to the whole population too. Global warming is an issues which everyone know about it and the manner it could happen is foretell with a lot of scientific accounts of investigation. Thus, many people who watch those videos could be slightly shock but it is the truth and all the talks about global warming is foretold..

I see that you are a believer in global warming, neelianoscet, but I, for one, do not find any credence in the theory. It is simply a theory. I see no need to use it to frighten little children.
