What is your take on the Wheels of Time series?

After the HP series, I have now shifted to the Wheel of Time series as Robert Jordan was highly recommended. Though the story is interesting it is largely disappointing and I get a feeling that RJ has spent more time in filling up the pages than thinking of the gripping elements in the plot. In fact, I think the series should not have lasted more than 5 books. What is your opinion? Cheers! Ram
