What do you think of wearing neckties? | | What type of tie do you like to wear, or do you like wearing them at all?
I like all sorts of ties, and collect many of them...bows, Windsor, bolo, string, Jabou, you name it, I've got it. My particular favorite though, is the very long wrap-around the neck a few times, "ascot type", that the pioneers used to wear. I love these ties! For one thing...they're warm! My gosh, they're warm. But they go especially well with my very long, puffy-sleeved shirts, & pioneer tail-coats. I think the way they dressed back in the early 18th-19th centuries was truly class y, and the tie, well...that just "set it off". (Maybe I was born in the wrong century?)
Anyway, what kind(s) of tie do you like/dislike to wear?

Whether they are classy or not, it all depends on the one who wears them. I like to wear ties when there are good occasions to attend. All ties works well with me except those old style.

commanderxo (473) | 3 months ago | Well, I have to agree with you there. If it makes me look good, then it doesn't really matter WHAT kind of tie I'm wearing.....and you're right about certain occasions.
But for some weird reason, that crazy old style of wrap-around choker-type, REALLY sets an outfit off, providing you've got the time, patience, and energy to fiddle with it. I will tell you this though. In the summertime, it's EXTREMELY hot to wear. I don't know how those "old guys of yesteryear" ever managed to deal with that...although in my case, I never perspire.
I had to make my own to boot, since they're not available except in costumes; which can get pretty expensive, just for the sake of a tie. But as far as making a man look good?.....call me old fashioned, but it seems to bring about a certain "elegance", which I feel is lacking in men's fashion these days.

commanderxo (473) | 1 month ago | Yeah I gotta agree with you there. Some people just don't suit a tie, and can't stand to wear one. I think it makes them "feel" like being choked, or trussed up, or something like that...and actually...chances are, they probably look even better with an open neck anyway.

commanderxo (473) | 3 weeks ago | Please forgive my ignorance but, wouldn't wearing a turban, be ALSO quite warm? I'm not saying that you personally wear one, well I don't know if you do or not...nor does it matter...it was merely a thought. But I DO understand your point about wearing a necktie. Yes I agree. It can become somewhat choking as you say.
