Does real happiness comes from wealth?

I have seen some pretty poor people in my life that were actually very happy. So, I would have a hard time saying that real happiness does come from wealth.

Of course, when you have financial problems and money is causing burdens on you and your family, it can be really difficult to be happy. Some people even get divorced because of money related issues. Especially when there is more bills than there is money. This can cause a huge strain on a relationship.

With that said, I wouldn't say that wealth can't help you to be happier than you already are. But, true happiness I think comes from within.

Look at old Scrooge on the famous Christmas Carol story, he was miserable and he had all kinds of money. So, some people are just grouchy I think. Whereas, other people are just happy. It is whatever you feel inside that matters!

I do not agree with your friend. You can have all the money in the world but if you lose your good health, you have nothing. You can be rich but if nobody loves you your life counts for nothing and no one will remember you when you're gone.

The most valuable things in life cannot be bought, only given.

Happiness doesn't come from wealth only, wealth can help to increase happiness but it's not the only variable that you have to take into consideration. For me, the top reason for being happy is having my family around, I only need to know they love me and they're here to support me and that's what makes me feel happy:)

Hi There, it is rightly said that wealth is not all. But you should have enough wealth in order to live happily. It proves that wealth do play the role in your life.

No, i don't think real happiness comes from wealth. Instead, sometimes wealth can cause many problems, for example rich people may be more scared to lose thier wealth so they have to fight very hard to protect the safety of thier possessions, then they will be swayed by considerations of gain and loss. And some other rich people will lose their purpose of life they are too rich that they can have anything then there's nothing can raise their interests. I think this kind of persons can be called miserable instead of being happy.
I think real happiness comes from love that there are someone you care about in this world and some cares about you.

My aunt was worth over 500 million andwas depressed and crabby all of the time.
SHe kept thinking that people were trying to screw her out of her money.
My father and this aunt came from a family of 18. By the time she reached the age of 50, no one would invite her to any family function.
SHe was a lousy drunk at such situations, like weddings.
The last time I was forced to visit her, (I was 7) She asked me if I wanted her money, and I said "Hell no; especially if it will warp me as mean as you are."

Yes, I strongly agree with you. A true happiness doesn't always come out as the result of being wealth. I believe there a lot of things which money can't buy. Happiness itself is something that money can not buy. Sometimes we just see it from our own point of view, that money makes you king and able to do anything. I don't think so. We need money, all of us, who doesn't? I don't appreciate when someone 'torments' himself earning a lot of money and he claims he is 'reaching happiness'. I must admit that this life is a happiness already.=)

Money can buy you stuff but it can't buy your attitude, or your true and closest friends, your talents, your wisdom, your insight..It can only buy stuff..

It does not come from wealth, neither does it come from poverty. There are pros and cons for both. A poor person can watch his children get sick and be near death and have no means to save them. That poor person would be happy if someone had given him money or if he had had a job whereby he could have saved for the doctor or given his family healthy food. A rich person could have a horrible disease through no fault of his own, and all his money cannot help and he might want to help others, but cannot because he is in pain.
A poor person can rejoice in the love of his family and so can a rich person. Thinks do happen and wealth and poverty have nothing to do with it, but it is better to have some money so that if things can get too hard, you feel that you did try. So somewhere in the middle financially wise would be best unless of course, you worked really hard and wound up wealthy, but then you would know it is not something someone handed you.

For a poor person, having some money would be happiness because it means being able to buy food and provide other necessities for the family. For a rich man, real happiness does not necessarily come from wealth, because with all the material needs in the world, he or she cannot bring back the terminally ill alive back. Some rich people are super wealthy but they are lonely inside. Some poor families don't have wealth, but they are happy because they are together. But a little money goes a long way for them. It's perspective; when it comes to happiness and wealth. It has its purpose and moments. One cannot be too hard up on money, lest that person forget about himself/herself.
