Never worried about money!?! |

Do you think it is possible for humans to live without money? If money were no longer available could people barter with local townsfolk and have all they need to survive and flourish? what do you think? Can you envision a world without money? what do you picture? Would you be a farmer? A cobbler? what service would you offer?

But in the real life, we can if we are living in a world where it is not sophisticated. I envision a place where we can be farmers and plant our own vegetables, raise our poultry and other animals. There is also a good product to offer like salt. Salt-making would be a good idea because people will not eat without salt in their food.

jodylee_04530 (509) | 1 month ago | You really don't think it could be sophisticated? I feel like I could exchange my current services for many things. I actually can imagine an instance that would have worked in this system and would keep me in my current occupation. I have a neighbor that owns a car repair shop that needed some help with her son. I counseled her son and mentored him through my job. She paid my company to do the work. Why would it not work for her to pay me directly with car repairs? It would take good communication but it can be done on such a grade scale. With the capabilities of the internet why couldn't there be websites where people offer there services and if you need them you arrange it. Certainly government would be a very different being altogether because, as you can see, there is not a lot of room for taxes. Perhaps going back to more of a community feel of life where we help each other instead of distract each other. I would not mind being paid in goods and services. I just don't know if it could actually work...:)

jodylee_04530 (509) | 1 month ago | You could start online even:) I think there is an incredible market for a Dear Abby on the internet. I love working with people of all kinds. It is incredible to hear the stories and to try and figure out the chaos, or madness of other people. It really makes you look deep at yourself though too. I think you have to know yourself incredibly well to be successful in that career path. If you think you might enjoy it, go for it! Dream big, or go home! Right?!

jodylee_04530 (509) | 1 month ago | Dear Zed,
I have this friend who tends to drink too much alcohol. She has been hiding her alcohol all over the house and is becoming too dependent on it. How do we get her to stop abusing alcohol and be part of a healthy life again?
Struggling friend, Maine~
LOL! How was that for your first Dear Zed question!
I do think it is possible though:)

jodylee_04530 (509) | 4 weeks ago | Thanks Zed! This is a great place to be and I am enjoying being able to express myself. With typing it is always nice because you can correct it before it goes out. With spoken word you have to choose more carefully and at a faster rate what you will say so as not to offend or get it wrong!

jodylee_04530 (509) | 4 weeks ago | Your right, no need for a chatroom! I tend to rant as well. Sometimes my mind moves way to fast and things just start coming out. I have surprised myself so many times with the conclusions I make through words. Something I love about mylot is how much more comfortable I am with my beliefs. I love being challenged by thinking about others perspectives and in the meantime discovering how passionate I really am about some subjects.
This discussion that I posted has given me some great ideas on how to use the internet and help shape the world I desire to live in. I am really wanting to start a bartering website. A place where you can post what you are looking for and what you can offer in return. Others can search for what they are looking for and try to make a match. What do you think, could it work?

Here on myLot there are so many interesting people with so many good topics to discuss, I really do not see the point of updating my status.

3. peavey (3727) | 1 month ago | It would be very, very hard to move from the economic society we have now to one without money. Mankind did live without money at one point in the past, though, so it isn't impossible.
I would barter knitted products as well as baked goods. I could also mend clothing and tend a garden.

4. KrauseHome (13384) | 1 month ago | Well, if there was truly a way that we as people could live without money it would be interesting for sure. Especially since most of us who own homes would have a lot of bartering to do to keep our homes for sure. But if it was possible and I still had access to the Internet, etc. I could make Cards, sew potholders for people, do reports, etc. Since I work as a Calltaker and have had my own Business there are a lot of things I have learned that I already do from time to time to earn some extra $$ as is.

jodylee_04530 (509) | 1 month ago | I take it you don't think it is possible? I imagine that without money we would still be able to keep what we have for technologies. I don't imagine we would revert back to the dark ages. I do wonder if without money there would be as many advancements in that area and others.
You are right about homeowners. There would be a lot of that to go around. I actually have many friends who work on houses in different capacities and have been able to barter with them on many occasions to do work on my house.
It sounds like you are pretty crafty, I wish I could say the same!

| 5. chipmunk2921 (37) | 1 month ago | I believe it is possible, i mean money started somewhere, and before that somewhere there was no money. I wish that life could go back to the way it was then because now money corrupts people. Its evil. God doesnt want people worshiping anything but him, yet there are a lot of people that worship money, even if they dont admit it.

|
|
jodylee_04530 (509) | 1 month ago | You are so right about the greed and corruption. I could not agree more that it is evil! And, people certainly do worship money. It is really discusting and when in the wrong hands, can make things disasterous!

jodylee_04530 (509) | 4 weeks ago | It would certainly be a big change to get rid of money all together. I imagine even in ancient civilizations there was a sort of ranking system to give people the "wealthy status". I do not know if it would be possible but I would love to see the greed disappear from the world and I cannot think of any other way to do that then to take away the money. Do you have any ideas on that?
Singers would be a hot commodity I think. There is nothing like having live music and entertainment. What do you like to sing for music? Do you just sing for fun now or do you sing for pay too?

aixshaonline (283) | 4 weeks ago | Money has been a gauge for identifying a person's status or more often, power. The wealthier you are, the more powerful you are. Money, unfortunately, makes people go blind, thus making them think they can buy everything the world has to offer. Ick. I wonder how they can stand that and live a life knowing that they bought someone, a vote, etc.
I love singing praise songs! I love singing songs of the 70's, 80's, and early 90's as well. Ballads, alternative songs, pop, rock, you name it! I've been singing since I was three, and I think it would be safe to say that music and I are inseparable. I usually sing for fun. There are times when we (I am part of a church choir hahaha) are invited to sing at weddings and funerals. There are times when we are given money, but most of the time our choir master only asks for two things for our singing: a good sound system and free pass to the reception!
| |
|
|
jodylee_04530 (509) | 4 weeks ago | You are so right, money has been a gauge for so long. I would love to see all people wake up and realize there is more to life than who rich and powerful you are. It amazes me how many people can be feed on what some people can make in a year. For example, Bill Gates (estimated net worth: $42,000,000,000,000), could give every man, women and child on the face of the planet $7.46! That is astonishing.
Sounds like you are a versatile singer. I imagine the receptions can be quite fun at times. It must feel nice to be able to give something to people as well. I am sure they love having a choir at the event.

| 7. Jeffest (8) | 4 weeks ago | If there will be a world we don't need money, because of our prosperity. It means that we will never worride about money. But what shall we do then? And whar is the meaning of our life? For love, reading, sport,or for stare blankly.Day by day,the humans lost their advantages, and suffering intellgence's weakness, suffering body's weakness, and many imagination invention.WE NEED COMPETETION.
| |
| |
|
|
jodylee_04530 (509) | 4 weeks ago | Why does money eliminate competition? I don't imagine a world without money to be one filled with sitting blankly. I see many more people able to achieve their goals. I see people not needing to stay in a job they do not enjoy just for the money. With a barter system the better you are the better the trade. The better the carpenter, the better the house you build. For advertising your company you could trade home repairs. I think the internet has changed this world and I am ready to see what it can really do. I can imagine a wonderful life without money. I imagine communities coming back together, tolerance regaining power and imaginations being put to use. Just my perspective though, there are many ways to look at it.

jodylee_04530 (509) | 4 weeks ago | What do you think makes it impossible? Is it just the human race being able to change that big? Or, are we too dependent on money these days? Is it because it would such a large change that it would be impossible to cooridinate? Anyway, I think anyone in the medical profession would be able to survive with or without money. Medical professionals are so necessary to the livlihood of so many people!
