All you can eat for one price ... do you like these? Have them where you live?

Hi Rm...my granddaughter has always been a picky little eater, but she, like your children, tends to eat more at the buffets. She just loves going back numerous times to put a little of her favorites on a plate. They do have a whole lot of variety!

And, also like you, I find it easy to over indulge and end up with a stomach ache lol.

Hi Not...the buffets in my area are only one option on the menu, so you can also order a regular meal and take home the leftovers. I could never understand why they didn't allow the same for those who order from the buffet. What would be wrong with taking home what you've already put on your plate? It's not as if you're going to make yet another trip to the buffet and clean away every bit of food that is on it.

It just seems like a waste of food not to be able to take your leftovers with you!

Hi Ann. Yum! The food you've mentioned sounds delicious! Buffets here are often "theme" oriented: a breakfast buffet with many many options, say, or a seafood and salad dinner buffet, also with a wide selections of foods.

I love the variety and the low price, but do think it would be nice to take away your own leftovers!

i guess that is the technique of the restaurants so they could save and avoid wastage here. they will double the price you pay if you leave leftovers on your plate.

Hi Amy. We have a few Chinese-style restaurants in our city, and one of them has a wonderful buffet. You can make many choices from that or order a specific meal from the menu. Yes, I imagine there might be more buffets in your area. I haven't checked out all the ones in the larger cities closer to me, but many restaurants include them now, and always at a good price!

Hi Empire. We have a Pizza Hut, and they offer a great lunch buffet. Sometimes it's hard to decide exactly what you want on your pizza, and still keep the cost reasonable, so this is handy as you try small slices of many kinds, as well as putting together your own salad. They even have their desserts on there. Yummy! Kudos to yours for allowing doggy bags!

Hi Dorann. Yes! The food freshness thing can be iffy. I have no qualms if a food has a dried out look or odd look, as though it's been there a while, about asking a server to bring out fresh!

It IS a good place for kiddos to try out a variety of foods, though. And here, the price is usually lower than what one can get off the main menu.

Hi Mom...I've heard other parents and grandparents say the same thing. This is the case for my finicky little granddaughter lol. She always eats more and better at a buffet simply because of the sheer amount of variety they offer.

Thank you, Cowboy. The pizza places here are a favorite place for people to gather for parties, especially, as you said, birthday parties. Like you, I love the variety and the lower prices, especially in these economic times. It's always nice to have so much variety, too.

Yes, I imagine no one does Italian cooking as well as the true Italians! There are numerous good Italian restaurants in our areas, some owned by Italians, lol, always a plus. And of foreign food, Italian is my favorite.

I do find the food in the buffets is almost always delicious. Occasionally, if something looks like it's been sitting to long, I simply ask a server to bring out a new bin of that food. The prices are always excellent.

I agree, we have to watch portions if we eat out routinely, but since for me, it is only a once in a while treat, that is not an issue lol.

Ah, but the buffets where I live tend to be nicely priced, and you get more food for the money. I try to keep my portions small...a bit of everything I like, so as not to be too miserable from over-eating! I do wish we could take the leftovers home, though.
