While many may think it too early for Christmas shopping, it is never too early to be thinking of loved ones and of gifts that may be unique to each individual. It is time that we get rid of the idea that gifts must cost a lot of money, it is often far better to give instead the gift of ourselves. The gifts that we craft with our own hands are often the most significant because of the love that drove us to create them. Here are some suggestions and please feel free to add some suggestions of your own.
If you love journaling, share your writing joy with family and friends by giving each a unique, handmade personal journal. A simple spiral notebook dressed up with paper, fabric, photographs, or other embellishments will give your loved ones a special place to record their private thoughts.
Erase the distance between yourself and your far away loved ones by presenting each with a photo journal documenting how your life has changed in the past year, or introduce them to your locale with a homemade guidebook that highlights everything you love about your town or city.
Perhaps a photo album, where pictures tell the story of your relationships from the past up to the present, can be a simple reminder of the many wonderful experiences you and your loved ones have shared over the years.
Hand-crafted ornaments that can be hung on trees, in windows, and on walls afford you an opportunity to surround the important people in your life with beauty, whether you prefer to work with clay, crystals, fabric, baked dough, or natural objects.
Whether you choose to give a gift or simply share your friendship and love, remember that it is always the intention behind the thought that is most important.

Hello Pose. I totally agree with you that it is always the intention of thought that is the most important when it comes to sending a nice gift to your loved ones. I have some students who have given some gifts made by their own hands, some paper-folded birds. I love them and keep them on the table in my office. I appreciate them for the paper arts and crafts. Take care.

HAHAHA It's never too early to start thinking of Christmas gifts, and the thoughts that must go behind then. This year, there are a number of family members who have expressed an interest in a book that a friend of mine has just published, so I am getting them copies. They are interested, and I am looking for a nice gift, so I am happy to be able to do this for them.

I remember the wife of our boss in real estate before, she would give us these differrent colored bath soap, wrap in lace or in a special cloth for gifts with ribbons added on christmas and will keep it inside our drawers. These serve as air freshener and would really last long. I might make gifts like these for friends this Christmas as well. Thanks for posting, Pose. You remind us ideas on how to save on nice christmas gifts.

from the country where i come from christmas is always celebrated early, once the month of the "ber" (SeptemBER, OctoBER, ect.)starts so is christmas season, and for people like me who loves crafting this is the season i boost my talent. i love making my own decoration, last time i have made use of colored paper as a decoration, i simply printed out christmas cut out on the papers like a christmas tree, a candy cane, christmas ball and a christmas bell, then i stable it on a rafia sting, and made it as a wall garland, it came out very cute. i hope to think of something new this year.

gift which was made by somebody's hand always very costful,we always collect it very well, as this gift is unique, nowadays, the craft by our hand as a gift is very rare,we do not have more time and idea to do that, buy a gift is easy to get it.in my mind, the only gift which was made by my hands, was given to one of my best friends for her birthday when we were twelve years old.good luck and have a nice day!

I try to make as many home made gifts as possible. I have noticed that they do not cost a lot of money and people seem to appreciate it more. I will be painting ceramic ornaments for my grandparents and my parents. I will also paint one for my sister and brother. My dad loves trains and I found a ceramic rail road station that I will paint. I will be making gift baskets full of cookies, fudge, candy and bread.
I agree with you that homemade gifts are so much better than store bought. The only store bought gifts I will buy is for my husband and my niece and nephews. My niece and nephews wanted books and I bought them those. My niece wants a stuffing animal and of course I can not play favorites so I will be buying them all stuffing animals. I wish I could make stuffed animals maybe I will try my hand at it next year.
