Is Making Money Online Easy?

Well I blogged for quite awhile about making money online and sharing what I was learning but I didn't make any money. Most people reading my blog were looking for info but didn't have any money to buy anything. So I kept that site going but decided to start blogging about things I know more about and that is when I started earning money online.

I love fishing, so I created a blog about fly fishing and then another blog about fishing where I live and then another about fishing Canada.

I have found gardening to be a great hobby and with the economy the way it is a lot of others are starting to garden just to save money. So, I started a backyard gardening site which led me to start a second one and then I decided that a recipe site would go great with my garden sites.

My wife and I love to travel, but just don't have the time while she is still working full time but I decided to start a travel blog and started earning with that one so I started two more travel blogs.

I must tell you that not all the things that I tried work and I had to move on to another niche and try again.

That's how I found that I could make money talking and sharing what I know about my hobbies.

I was a computer instructor for 20 years but I did that for so long I decided not to start a web site about that, although I am sure I would earn money and get lots of people signing up for a newsletter to learn more about their computer and software.

My motto is to do what I love.

Thank you for filling me in more! I am just trying to think of a hobby that I know enough about to be able blog and give info. on a regular basis. Did you do a lot of research?

The research I do is to see if there are other web sites out there in my niche because competition is a good thing.

If you go to places like Amazon and eBay you can see what is selling there. That will give you an idea about how many are buying in your niche.

So to make blogging for money work you need people buying and some competition.

You keep saying you are making money. Can you please tell me how you are making the money? What are they buying? Your writing a blog on what interests you but what are they buying?

From what I have been doing it doesn't really matter what you are selling as long as you stay within the niche you are working. So if I have a digital photography web site I would promote all things to do with digital photography.

I think where people go wrong is having a blog that doesn't stay within the niche they started with and their blog loses focus for the readers. Then it becomes tough to know what to sell.

On the other hand if I stay in my niche, digital photography, then I can sell digital photography products without turning off my readers because they are there to read and learn about digital photography.

So what I am saying is, with more than 30 blogs it's hard to tell anyone what I promote as I promote a lot of different things based on the niche of each blog.:)

I don't want to give out affiliate links to the places I get my affiliate links for my blogs. I am really here on Mylot to share things I know that help me and to repond to discussions that grab my interest.

I will tell you who they are without giving an affiliate link.

First you need to know that you don't just start a blog or a web site and stick up ads all over it. First make your blog or site look great and add some content. Keep the content on topic so the search engines will see the way you want them to for your keywords.

Once you start getting about 100 visitors a day, I get most of mine directly from people searching Google, then you can start to put up affiliate ads on your site, just don't clutter your site as that may turn off companies from accepting you into their affiliate program.

I use Commission Junction, LinkShare, ShareASale, Amazon and Clickbank.

I lost my Google Adsense account many years ago. That was back when I did a lot of traffic exchanges and some where clicking my Adsense when they shouldn't have. That is why I don't use traffic exchanges any longer.

Now, instead of Adsense, I use FindItQuick and Bidvertiser for Adsense alternatives.

If you keep your content really focused on your keywords the search engines will index your pages. If you aren't getting any visits from search engines yet you need to write a couple of articles that match your content and publish them on article directories. The search engine indexed those directories many times a day.

Once they get to your article the search engine will follow it to your site, so be sure you link to an exact page on your site where you use those keywords.

Keep adding content to your blog and if you really want to make it go faster write more article for article directories and point to your internal pages.

Just that simple, but it takes a bit of work.

I am at the point now where I hire people to write articles I want to publish on article directories. So for about 5 or 6 dollars an article I have unique content for the article directories which allows me to concentrate on my blog content.

Hi could you please tell me more about that system. I am new to blogging. Do not know much about htmls, and the affiliate marketing. I have had some on my blog but it is not working pretty well. I really wanted to know much about how to earn well on the net.

Ah, Back To The Basics, that's a great place for people to start and stay until they start earning instead of starting something and then jumping on to something else before they are finished.

If you write well you should join sites like Helium where you can earn for writing.

I don't bother with them because my writing skills aren't the best. I didn't go very far in school and quit back in 1969.

That's a way to make money from writing but I prefer to have my own web site and put my writing there so I attract traffic from the search engines. It takes a little while to get them earning but after about 3 months I am either earning a bit or I drop the site and move on.

I acutally used the money I earned from Mylot to buy domains and pay for hosting my web sites. Now that i have them going I hardly get over here to Mylot, just too busy most days. And the other days I am out fishing.:)

Hi aprilten. It also got me interested. I also have the same question like yours. If she was putting other people's articles on her blog. If that is just fine then, I might as well do the same. I do a lot of times lose ideas to write on my blog. Hope we get answers soon.

Yes Aprilten it's perfectly legal. You can go to article directories and take the content from there as long as you keep the author's details with the article.

You can also get private label rights articles. I like PLR articles because I can modify them to say what I want. You can't do that with content you get from article directories. You have to use them as is.

So I looked for 'private label rights' along with a travel related keyword phrase and then I add them to my travel blog.

Do you just good PLR to find them?

I do have a couple of places I pay for private label rights article. I pay for them because they are provided to no more than 200 people. Usually I use these articles as is.

The free PLR articles I get need to be modified a little because they could be used by thousands because they are free.

I still have to put forth an effort every day.:)

For me PTC just didn't earn me what I need for the time it took. I guess I didn't know how to manage them enough.

Right now I have just over 30 blogs but 6 of them are about credit and debt which aren't doing anything so when they come up for renewal I will not renew those domains. So you can see I don't always hit it right when choosing a niche.

I found that sticking with something I know about helps me earn faster. I can also use my own content if I know about the niche which gives me better rankings in the search engines.

People tend to want to get rich online instead of just making a living. My goal is not to make millions or even thousands a month. I don't need money like that. I just want to make a living so my goal is to make a couple of thousand a month and that's not that hard.

It does take work but when you get one web site earning a little you can always get it to earn a little more. A 1 or 2 percent increase on your site each month adds up at the end of the year.

Don't think about the big money, just think about making a profit each month and then do just a little better this month and next month and so on. It works for me.

I usually have poor luck at getting others to join things and then when I do they don't do much, so I don't bother. If people want to join something under me, great but I never ask.

I try to focus on something I like as it makes the job of earning easier. I like fishing and talk about fishing and what I use. If I get my readers as excited as I get when I am fishing they will likely come back often and even buy the same things I use to fish.

I do the same thing with all my interests.

That way I don't have to do the PTC routine every day.:)
