Coffee? |
|
Do you drink coffee? What are the statistics on coffee nowadays? Is it good for you? Is it bad for you? Is it another one of those things that "in moderation, it's okay"? If you drink it, how do you take it? How often do you drink it? If you don't drink coffee, what do you drink instead?
I am one of those very rare people out there that does NOT drink coffee. I never acquired the taste for it, and don't feel that I'm missing out on anything either. I get my "need for caffeine" from drinking diet pop.
Part of me wonders if I should work on acquiring that taste for coffee, because it seems like such a "grown up" thing to drink. (I'm almost 37 and still feel like a kid much of the time).

| 31. MaryKat79 (5) | 3 months ago | I drink coffee at least 1-2 a day if not more. I work graveyard shift, so coffee has become my reliable get-me-by at 4 am! I see just as many people drinking energy drinks as I do coffee! I have always drank coffee with sugar and creamm.
A study done at Harvard suggests coffee has plenty of benefits from lowering risks of Diabetes and Parkinson's to reducing headaches and giving a boost in mood.
I'm sure there have been other studies saying otherwise, but as 1 of the 108 million Americans that partake, I like to believe that first opinion!

32. zigzagbuddha (1833) | 3 months ago | I used to drink coffee. And yeah, I started drinking it because it seemed so 'grownup'. The only way I can drink it though is loaded with cream and sugar and since I have a sugar addiction that has created a huge over population of candida I have had to give it up. Not only that but my daughter won't talk to me if I have had even one cup of coffee... I think all the years shooting speed affected my nervous system and I react to caffeine as though I just shot up speed... jabber jabber jabber 5 miles a minute, mood swings, etc. Plus I smoke cigarettes non-stop while I'm drinking it.
First I switched over to black tea, but that was not much better... still required heavy cream and sugar and lead to over-indulgence in tobacco.
I am currently doing the Atkins diet, taking oregano oil and eating lots of raw garlic in an effort to get my yeast population back in balance (also loose a few pounds, hehehe)... all of which require LOTS of water, but man oh man... how can drinking plain water be soooooo friggin hard?!?!?! If it's not mixed with caffeine, cream and sugar I mostly ignore it.
My solution to this dilemma has been to buy 120 bucks worth of herbal teas... along with a 'miraculous tea maker' and some powdered stevia leaf. And what a great idea that was! Compared to coffee or black tea loaded with cream and sugar, herbal teas have always bored me... it was like "where's the ooomph?" But these teas I got are wonderful! They have flower petals in them and all kinds of exotic and useful herbs that I have been interested in for years! And they have names like 'Fairytale Blend' and 'Pure Joy'! Right now I am drinking 'Women's Balancing' blend, with peppermint, nettle, raspberry and dandelion leaves, ginger root and rose petals... very tasty!
I am having an absolute blast with this whole tea-making and drinking ritual! I have a cup of tea - which I have selected to suit my mood - beside me all day that I am constantly sipping on.... when one cup is gone I make another. I can finally bid a fond farewell to the overweight, sluggish, candida ridden me, and welcome back the happy, healthy, slim and energetic me!

36. Keola12 (410) | 3 months ago | I used to drink a lot of regular coffee, but I stopped because the caffeine in it made me restless and unable to sleep at night. Now whenever I crave coffee, I drink decaf coffee. I like it with some cream and artificial sweetener or sometimes I'll put regular milk in it. I usually use fat free milk for my coffee. I also like to put ice cream in it or cookies when I really have a sweet tooth.

37. snugasabugxxx (477) | 3 months ago | Oh I wish I could drink coffee - I love coffee and would drink it until it was coming out of my ears, however I just have to make do with sniffing it or eating coffee cake or coffee chocolates because drinking coffee gives me really really bad indigestion
