Those characteristics aren't necessarily childish, but moreso because they think they know best. I think a lot of people are this way with their children because they have always been the boss of their kids, and they think that they still know best no matter what it is.
My mother on the other hand is the opposite. She likes to throw a guilt trip whenever she doesn't get things her way. I don't actually think that she realizes she does this. She is just upset, and so now you must suffer. LOL
I have made a joke out of it. I have been telling my sister, you do know that our mom is a travel agent, right? She of course asks what I mean. I say, yes she is now a travel agent, and specializing in guilt trips. LOL

I think that some elderly people do have childish tendencies about them sometimes when they age and get in their senior years. I think it is cute about them for the most part but it can also be dangerous for them not to be able to think and act as an adult also.

i know some old people who are like this. i have an elderly aunt that was spoiled from the day she was born and expects everyone to carry on with this, but now she is in a nursing home and doesnt always get her own way and now she 'hates' living there.

Hi,cher,i think you had practical example in a person known to you. It's all because of older people want to win their words and every body has to listen to their sayings.
