Are you a CARROT, an EGG or a COFFEE BEAN? |
|
Have you read the story on the carrot, the egg and the coffee bean? it is very inspiring and i 'd like to share it with you.^^
it's about a daughter who went to her mother, complaining about all the problems in her life and how she wants to give up. the mother took her to the kitchen, put three pans in the burner and placed a carrot, an egg and coffee beans in each pan.
after 20 minutes, the mother placed these in separate bowls. she asked her daughter to touch the carrot and the daughter noted that it is soft. the daughter cracked the eggshell and noted the hard-boiled egg inside. then she sipped the coffee and noted its fragrance.
the daughter asked what was the point of the experiment. the mother explained that the carrot came in strong and hard but came out weak and soft. the egg had been fragile with its thin outer shell protecting it. but it came out hard. lastly, the coffee changed the color of the water after being boiled.
the mother explained that the three objects faced the same adversity - boiling water - but came out differently.
then, which one are you? are you the carrot that comes in hard but becomes soft and weak after a trial? are you the egg that was soft and fragile but came out hard after? or are you the coffee beans which become better after being submerged in trials? do you change the situations or do you let these break you?

1. Sandra1952 (1595) | 3 months ago | What a great story - I've never come across it before. I'm happy to say I'm definitely a coffee bean - even though I hate the smell and taste of coffee! I firmly believe that everything, good or bad, happens for a reason, and we will never be faced with more than we can deal with. I'm 57, and I consider I've had a wonderful life so far, though it's had its share of heartache. I am what I am because of what's happened to me and how I dealt with things, and I like what I've become. Yes, I'm a coffee bean.

| ladyella (88) | 3 months ago | hi there! i'm glad that you're a coffee bean too.^^ it's really helpful if we know how to look at adversities as something that we could take command of. i hope all people could be coffee beans so that they'd be no more suicides and other forms of inappropriate escapes from problems. life is easy, ain't it? it's just how we look at it that makes a difference.^^

2. larish (1428) | 3 months ago | I think I am all three:) After a hard trial, I know I am too weak and soft (carrot) to move on especially if I am still in shock and still trying to pick up the pieces that has been broken then after that I will rationalize everything. From this point I am already beginning to get my strength and becomes strong/hard (egg). After this stage, I am renew. I am now equipped with the lesson I learned from the trials I have undergone. I am now ready to face the world with a better perspective in life (coffee). Thanks for sharing this story.

| 6. Naylani (67) | 3 months ago | Girrrl that is deep! I think that we all have been either the carrot, egg, or the coffee bean at one time or another, it just depends on the type of adversity and where we are in our lives. When I think back on my life until now I realize I must have been all three things at one point or another. I guess if I have to choose, I pick the egg, because I have gone into alot of things fragile and came away firmer in my resolve than before.

| ladyella (88) | 3 months ago | i agree. but being a coffee bean is the best way of dealing with adversities. if you are a firm coffee bean, you'll always be like that no matter what adversities you are facing. it's really not about the kind of adversity but more of how you see it. cheers to you!

7. ilovechocolate (715) | 3 months ago | hmmmmm... To tell you the truth, I am not sure which I am in the story.I would like to be the coffee bean though I love eating carrots and barely drink coffee.I had been emotionally wrecked with my recent break up. I hardly fallen asleep and had been weeping day and night.A week ago, I decided to go out and joined a get together. I met a girl who confided to me about her miseries and a guy who is trying to recover an unrequited love. We constantly communicate in chatroom after the first meeting. I have noticed that I have not been crying for almost a week. Which I consider a great feat as I have been struggling to recover from a bad break up.Perhaps, these people made me realize that I am not the only one suffering. There are people out there who have heavier burdens than me. I couldn't believe that I can laugh out loud about my past. They told me "How were you able to that?"

9. hexeduser22 (689) | 3 months ago | Thanks for sharing such a wonderful story. Come to think of it I may be some kind of a coffee bean but I think it would really take me a while to change the color of the water. I'm a bit slow to adapt and learn something in my life.

10. radiance27 (636) | 3 months ago | It's a great story. I am more like the egg. Before, I was so shy and fragile just like the egg. After being faced with trials in college, I can say that the obstacles and shortcomings I've faced made me stronger. Thanks for sharing the story. I'll definitely share it to my friends and family.
