I just figured out why. With an email , you have a writen record of how the person was feeling at the time. He/she had to really think about what they were about to say so usally it is more exact and real.Besides it is a new version of letters. Letters are better tha calls for me. how about you? Which do you prefer?

If i am talking to a local friend of mine who i am really close to, I'll take a phone call, but for really important stuff that doesn't necessarily have to be taken care of instantly, and things that I might want to keep recorded, as you mentioned e-mail is better. I've always thought that.

AARRGGHH!!! MyLot totally hung up on me, as it usually does, so I didn't know my original post actually went through, so that's why I posted it again. LOL Unless it takes me to the "tags" page, I assume it didn't post. LOL Anyway, my husband and I are both legally blind, so the face-to-face thing doesn't matter to us. As long as we can hear the person's voice the phone or in person are equal, in our eyes. The difference in person is if we are affectionate with the person and may want to hug them, in which case personal is better than phone, e-mail, or letter.

oh, and one more point about phone calls. OK this may end up being two more points. As you probably know from past discussions my hsuband (vladilyich1 here on MyLot) and I were long distance for the first two years of our courtship, and for about 6 months of our marriage. While e-mail was nice, we made sure to listen to eachother's voices a good three times a day, and of course that involved phone calls. Of course that situation was a special one, beecause of our relationship, and the distance. We normally woudln't use the telephone in that way, if not for those circumstances. Other times when I absolutely neeeeeeed to have a telephone is my cellphone for emergencies. If I am going to be late for something, if I need to find someone (Hubby gets lost sometimes with his new-found vision problems, so I like to give him my cellphone if he's going to be out for too long...)

I prefer emails. I have never really like talking on the phone....it hurts my ears and I have a hard time coming up with things to say....writing however is much better for me. My sisters talk to each other every day.....I finally asked one of them...what do you have to say to each other everyday? I must either be boring or something that I wouldn't be able to do that! LOL

I never got into the habit of talking on the phone when I was a teen. I never saw the point. I avoid phones like the plague. Emails seem more personal anyway.

I ask that same question with regard to Facebook and the like. You are only allowed to have like 400 characters... and if you have more to say you have to make additional posts for every one to follow. Why not just do a personal blog and all your "facebook friends" add their email to your contact list and email them every time you post to your blog. All can read and respond as they like..same as FB but can say more. What do people have to say to each other that they can talk daily and have enough to talk about without getting bored with each other or the conversation? I ask that about text msging on cell phones. You only get like 27 characters per message... what do you have to say in 27 characters (includes spaces) that has to be said so immediately and can end in only a response of 27 chracters?

I've never been a phone person to begin with but I have to admit probably some of my friends must think I've gotten a tad weird. I have a friend right down the block...do I call her? Nope...I prefer emailing her.

I also like emails much more because it is free of charge. And if someone calls me, I am not sure whether I have free time at that moment. Besides, my son likes to interrupt me when I am having the phone calls. So I also prefer to contact by emails. I love China

I choose phone calls first...you can hear alot in the tone of voice, and since people tend to get chatty...you learn alot to!!! But for crying in a bucket...with phone calling free now... if you want to talk to me please just call me.. for the personal aspect if nothing else! Next I choose email (or snail mail letters! Love those!) You can say alot in an email too and get chatty and you get it instantly or can pick and choose when you want to "talk" on the computer. But... if you value your life (just kidding!) you'd better not text me and expect a conversation! I hate texting!! For a quick question or direction or something quick, simple and easy... okay. You know, one word answers, or just a quick note revelent to the current situation... but do not try to text me a conversation. I will take the first one or two, but after that I will say.. just call me. My kids do this texting conversations cause they don't want to have to be "tied down" to a phone call or spend the continuous time with a phone call and with texting, they say what they want.. expecting a yes or no answer from me. But when I answer the question with more... it gets stupid. Sometimes things change and a yes or no is not an option. Or maybe a conflict of plans or times make more than a yes or no necessary. They are not understanding or just don't want to.. cause they still text. Then days later I find out the whole story or why they were asking and the whole conversation changes! I hate texting!!! Call or email!!!

The way you feel about texting is the way I feel about calling.I rather text or email, When I text I use full words .I fine it fun.when I text my nephew I try to see how fast he texts me back.If he isn't busy , it usually takes 30 seconds.I guess I need more than tone to really understand the other person. In person I can feel the mood and that helps.

i prefer email to phone calls, when we write down a emil we can be think very carefully and then sent out, so it is less mistaket than phone call directly, sometimes, we will shut out wrong words and hurt somebody without pay more attention.and also sometimes email always can be said clearly than on oral.the important thing is email is free of charge.but of course,on emergency time, we would like to make a phone call,it is fast to get a reply. good luck and have a nice day.
