we cleaned our clothes cabinet recently. we had them placed in boxes, segregated as to whom we intend to give. we had started to give these boxes of clothes when the 2 storms hit the northern part of the country. the remaining boxes of old clothes were given to the victims of the two storms. these are still very usable clothes and i am glad that i have helped in the little way that i did.

Old clothes are useful as long as they are not very worn out or with huge holes or tatters. My old clothes I gave them to my relatives in the rural areas. My cousins like hand-me-downs and I too like them. we swap old clothes among ourselves. Old clothes at home from the rest of the family go to charity as white gifts. This time around people who were victims of the typhoons need clothes badly so old clothes that are still usable are donated to them. Old clothes that are really worn out, I use them as rags or hand towels.

We have been working on my house, and out in the woods, so mine does not qualify for giving them to anyone. Mine usually go into the trash, when i get through with them.

Same here that is what i do with the childrens clothes as well as their shoes. My clothes go in the bin as they are usually worn out.I never seem to buy many clothes for myself as i tend to wear the same old things all the time. That way i have more money to spend on the childrens clothes.Where as my husband always buys clothes for himself.

I usually hand down my clothes to my younger sister. Some of them go to charities. I hate throwing my clothes away. I would rather give it to people who can't afford to buy clothes. Every year, I sort my clothes and give away all the clothes that won't fit me anymore.

I hate throwing clothes also. One way to make use of them is to give it away as donations, use it as rags or put them together to create a small blanket perhaps or hand towel that can be use in your kitchen. If you are giving it away to your friends make sure to tell them bluntly to accept it only if it will be of good use for them otherwise just keep it or donate it somewhere else.

just like you, i do not throw away those old clothes which are still in their decently usable state. it is a good and wise thing to do. as for those clothes which have no takers, i still keep them. they come in handy as rags or as hand dryers after washing my hands. my children use them, too. actually, there are a lot more other uses for those old clothes. you can also give them to those who collect old clothes which they hand over to the more unfortunate ones. good luck and it is good to know that you have such a fat and loving heart.

Hi ya doormouse Well my friends don't have any kids younger than my youngest so along with my old clothes I take them to a charity shop or I wait for the charity bags to come through my letterbox so that they can come and pick them up rather than me having to carry them down to the charity shop.

Hi doormouse What size is those clothes of yours? Im always in need of clothes...LOL I usually give my clothes to a place that will in return give them to someone else. I don't like giving clothes to those places that turn around and sell them. Their prices are not that cheap. Too many people out here that cant afford to buy clothes. I try to pass my grandkids clothes on to someone that I know that can really use. Great discussion and have a great weekend my friend.

With my clothes and my husband's clothes, we donate to this one lady in our area who works with many charities. I trust her to disperse the clothing to whomever needs it. With my little one's clothing, I first take it to second hand chidren's shops to see if I can exchange them for some store credit from them (which I do). What they don't buy back, I put them in a bag to sell on Craigslist for cheap (just to get it out of here). And if there is no luck in selling them, I will put them up as an offer for Freecycle. I'm the smallest of all my friends - so my clothes wouldn't fit them

My old clothes I either give away on freecycle, have a yard sale, or give them to heart and hand. Most of the time they go to someone I know that could use them. I never give away clothes with holes or stains. That just doesn't feel right so I throw them away.
