An ambulance came to pick up my stepmom. Admittedly, where my father lives it is a one lane road and a little windy. The driver was a little shaken when he arrived and wanted to know if there was another way out. I told him not if he was taking anyone to the hospital. I have never seen anyone from that area afraid to drive on those roads. I felt bad for him. I think he might want to consider a career change. LOL I loved driving on that road when I was younger, especially at night. It was curvy and you could see when cars were coming so you could fly down that road. Half the time I don't even remember how I got home.
Have you met anyone that is afraid to drive that is a driver?

This is funny but if he is not really comfortable and have some fears and his reasons are acceptable enough for him to really feel that way what we can do is just to support him and let him feel we're there to guide him amidst the anxiety that we're having or experiencing that we need to rush our loved ones to the hospital. Even if you want to drive the ambulance yourself it's a violation and you can even be imprisoned for doing so. You may have licensed to drive but not licensed to drive the ambulance. For you sir you better look for another job maybe not anymore into driving!

I know I couldn't drive the ambulance as far as the law goes. I do not have a cdl license myself. I owned a transporting company so I had to learn all the laws and I can even recite them. LOL I drove one ton vehicles, not commercially though, that were duallys and they were larger than the ambulance, so I knew I wouldn't wreck. As pale as that poor kid was, I wasn't sure that he wouldn't be joining my stepmother on a stretcher in the back. LOL I really felt bad for him.

People like that always amaze me. Did he think he could request to only answer calls in certain areas?

Hi, mommaj.. Not an professional driver. But someone that has a regular driver's license. He should not be scared, he was trained to do this job. Did he not have another driver that was less scary? Maybe they could guide him. That is his job to know how to drive on roads especially at night. I know that he may be scared, but he has to do it. He could be an newbie too. That is why he was so scared.
If he can't do this job, then he may need to give it up. When driving an ambulance he will be presented towards many road that he will have to know how to drive on. I can understand if he was not familiar with this road.

haha you must ask the hospital to send an ambulance driver from hell!
I pity the poor guy. He must be going through hell driving on that road, and you want him to go through hell again driving out.
Maybe you can ask that poor guy to go India and see how those Indian drivers drive. He will become the "highway ambulance devil" oh.

i pity him really...but if that's his job he's expected to drive without any hesitation.
I am surprise that you did drive Mommaj. It's not allowed in our country. I hope as we are discussing about your experience with the driver he's already searching for a new job. Goodluck to him.
