I have two credit cards but I rarely use them. I use them only to make big purchases, specially at the supermarket....Some people use credit card even for small purchases as they do not have liquid money and it is safer to keep little money because of theft. Theft and crimes related to theft have increased so it is safer to carry credit cards but do not keep your pin number with you....Do you make all purchases with credit cards?

I rarely carry a lot of cash, but I don't use my credit card unless it's absolutely necessary. Instead, I use my debit card to pay for everything. The money is deducted from my checking account when I use it, and I don't have to pay any interest on my purchases that way. On top of that, every time I use my debit card and choose to run it as credit, I earn points that I can redeem for cash rewards. I actually make money every time I buy gas or groceries or pay my bills.

I use my credit card for almost everything. I don't really like to carry cash with me and my bank started charging a service charge for using my debit card so now most everything goes on my credit card. This way I don't have to pay a service charge and I collect a lot of Airmiles!

i try to stay away from using a credit card as much as i can because the charges add up so quickly and the credit card companies charge such a high rate of interest! cash is way better because when its gone, your done shopping.

This last year has not been good for us financially and unfortunately I have had to use my credit card way more than I wanted to and now I have a large balance on my account, which means a large payment. I am able to handle the payment now but really don't like having to pay this extra bill but it was necessary to use it at the time.

Hello Velentina, Neither my husband or I have ever owned a credit card our entire lives. I don't even know honestly if I ever would care to either, we have done fine without one this far in life so so why bother with one now. We would probably be too tempted to spend more if we had one. We just use our bank cards and if the money isn't there then it's not there and we don't get it. I think it is plain and simple...i think credit cards get people in trouble more then it helps them out.

I mainly use a credit card when I am ordering online or when traveling. For regular purchases, I try and use cash. I am working right now on paying my credit card balance down, so I really don't like to put anything new on it. Sometimes you have to, and that's okay, as long as you can pay it off right away. Credit cards are dangerous, and often it takes some mistakes to learn our lessons about using them correctly!

Hi there Velentina! I have a credit card but it's been years since I used it. I usually just carry cash. About online purchases, I do not buy anything major online so I pay the ones that I purchase through Paypal.

I don't. I try to use my debit features to my check card more than anything. Though I have a friend who is to the point where anything beyond their bills has to go onto their credit card. I've been there too so I can't really judge her on that one. But you know that's when something has to change or spend a ton of time worrying bout when you can afford your groceries ect again.

I have never made a purchase with a credit card. I have owned debit cards in the past, but only because it came with the opening of a certain kind of bank account, and I immediately cut them up. It seems to me people spend WAY less money when they have to keep track of and consciously know what they're spending. Seeing the cash leave your hand or having to write a number amount down on a check stays in your mind and you're less likely to spend the money. With a credit card, you're a few swipes away from debt. My husband has always had a debit card, which he had trouble with using for the first two years of our relationship. That's when I researched into frugal living and smart money habits so I could teach him. He's been doing a lot better, and got a credit card a few months before we married and bought our house to improve his credit score...but immediately in the first two months of having this card, he forgot to make the payment on time and got hit with $35.00. In my opinion, if you don't have the cash to spend on a purchase or you don't have time (or the money in your account) to write a check, you shouldn't be buying things. Credit cards are simply unnecessary and dangerous in speaking of long term prices for short term decisions. My husband has a debit and I have an emergency cash fund on me if we would come to a situation where we needed money right away, and as for online purchases...we only shop online if we absolutely cannot find something in any store in our city, and we research, research to make sure it's the cheapest price including shipping. Then we either use PayPal or my husband's debit. But if you cannot find something in a store near you, it's doubtful you need it.

Yes, using credit card to purchases has been a habbit among people, espeically youngsters. Its simple procedure and convenient conduct really attract lots of fans. In the years without credit cards, you have to take a wallot and be cautious for the thief. Now, I just tuck a credit card in the toursers and then stroll around the supermarket leisurely. What's more, in order to increase the spread of credit cards as well as the fierce competition among banks, bank releasing the card always provides abundant gifts if you meet the requirements by using the card. So if it's possible for me to purchase with credit card, I would use it immediately.

I have a Lowes credit card and have used it to but paint. I will be using it again this weekend to buy plastic coverings to winterize the house and also a new artificial tree. I rarely use the card, but I know we need to in order to cut down on our heating bill. I had been thinking about getting another credit card, but I am afraid to because of all the new rules the governmemt is putting on getting a credit card. I am going to look at my credit reports.
