Here's the thing, this coming semester, I was tasked to create syllabus for a new subject called Personal Finance.
So, here I am wondering, with the broadness of the subject matter, what would you like to know if you were a student of such a course?
Can you list down at least 5?
Thanks for the help.

Hi! I have studied personal finance in the past for my own benefit, and I have a few areas in the subject matter that were not only interesting but very helpful to learn.
1) Budgeting: How to figure out what you can afford and when. What is necessary? What is just desire? What are some ways to spend less on necessities? Are store brands really awful quality or are they just cheaper because they are the store brand? Etc.
2) The differences in varieties of savings accounts, checking accounts, IRAs, stocks, etc. How do you tell which is the best deal and the best idea for you and your financial situation? Pros and cons of each investment idea are always helpful.
3) Details of mortgages, loans, and credit. How does being late on a payment affect your credit and how does this affect you later? How to build credit to save money later on?
4) Credit cards: the pros and dangers of using one. You could even go through the amount of money you need to charge each month on a credit card to get maximum benefits for your credit score. Details of the maximum detriments by being ignorant to the dangers of credit cards would be nice as well.
5) How to ASSESS your financial situation. This is so important and yet so often overlooked. You cannot possibly know what investment is best or if you are ready for a credit card if you do not assess how you spend and what you spend money on. People need to learn their spending habits before they can control those habits and be savvy in personal finance.
Good luck!

I'm learning about Personal Finance on my own. It's a subject matter that could be a great tool for a person's success but sadly not taught in school. If it were taught in school, it would be great if the following general subject matters are taught:
1. How to live beyond the means. (this would include how to cut down personal expenses, where to put your savings, etc..)
2. How to invest -- and where to invest (this would include different types on investments, pros and cons)
Probably it should also include life and health insurance and their benefits
