So much laundry to wash

When it is time to do laundry I have an automatic 5 loads of wash. Sheets, towels, whites and two loads of colors. Two load of colors because I seperate the knits from the flat cottons because of drying times. Then I have additional loads of delicates that can go in the dryer and those that cannot, separated by color, naturally. I can easily amass a dozen loads by the time I get around to washing it all! Some people are not that careful about how they sort and wash their clothing but I am very particular about washing at the right temperatures and so forth so items do not fade or shrink so they will last a long time. I am not one of those to throw towels in with my regular clothing. Aside from the difference in drying time you end up with lint from the towels all over your clothing. How particular are you about your clothes?

LOL. I am so envious. How do you find the time for everything you do? Two loads, whites and colors, are usually the way the clothes get seperated unless there are lots of towels. Then three loads.

Time? What's that? LOL! I just had a meeting at the museum this morning for something that will make me more busy and if things work out the smae thing will happen in December at another location. At least this time the "busy" is something I want to be doing.

Well, I am a docent so I get to be in a museum whenever there are tours and I can make it. I really should go more often but I am so busy with the rest of my life I never spend time there just wandering around.

I am very particular in washing our clothes. There has to be a schedule. A schedule where all colored clothes must be the first one to be washed. Then i do the white clothes. This will avoid any mini to big discoloration/stain in the colored dress due to bleach. In our country we need to hang it on to dry our clothes and that means it will be there for the rest of the day.

I often wash colors and towels more frequently than other laundry loads as those are usually the things I will need first. Whites are usually a low priority.

Your kids' uniforms are white? Wow, do they stay relatively clean or do they get dirty? Most school uniforms here are khaki pants and a colored shirt.

For us, it's almost the same in quantity since we have the kids uniform and my husband loves wearing white so we need to have a scheduled date for the white and colored clothes. Have a great laundry day while doing mylot.

when I used to take the laundry over to my mom's to wash, I separated by color/drying time. Generally only 2 loads because most of my towels and jeans could be done together with things like dark shirts and the like, while the white/lights could be done together - and I'd pull the more delicate things out before the sheets and stuff were done - didn't dry my bras at all NOW, I don't wear bras and figure that if my socks or undies get a little discolored - nobody'll know but ME!

Ha Ha! I've had some unmentionables discolored before when something bled in the laundry and you're absolutely right!

When I first started doing laundry I was taught towels and undies in one load, and colors in another. Other whites were washed with undies as well, so I think actually towels were most of the time their own separate load. That was when I lived with my grandparents. Prior to that, when living with my mother, she just told me to put it in altogether, or if I did she didn't care that I did... So that means, everything was washed together, but I don't think we ever used bleach there. Now things are separated differently, and to be honest I am not quite sure lol. I've had times where I didn't do my own laundry for awhile, but now that My husband and I are doing our own laundry again, we usually don't have enough for a load, so we end up mixing towels with colors, though we don't end up doing our whites as MIL needs them for a load... My husband is the only one that works right now, I am hoping to start working the first of November, so then I'll have more clothes to be washed, but right now it's mostly his clothes that do get washed...

I wouldn't blame you. Were you able to replace it or was it one of a kind? Do you still have it?

Ever since my grandmother ignored the care instructions on the label for one of my favorite garments and caused one color to bleed into another and mess up some other things i have guarded my laundry as if it were the family jewels, lol!

Hi there! Just did the laundry few hours ago. Actually, I sort my kids clothes. I finished it first then followed by others clothes including mine. Of course, I sort the white ones from the colored ones. But when it comes to some clothes that are really expensive like blouses, I handwash them. Hehe!

The very thoughts of doing laundry wears me out. I save it up for 2 weeks because the facilities at my apartment complex are outdoors and there are so many steps to get up and down. When I do it, I have a full load of bedding -- whites -- rugs -- darks -- and two of colors, light and delicate, and then a bit brighter. I am also very particular about how I wash and dry my clothes. The most delicate ones, or sweaters that might "pill," I do by hand. The others, I follow the label instructions! I always zip the zippers, and many things, I wash wrong side out. I read years ago that it prevents the agitator from "streaking" darker colors, and they pill less and get a lot less lint and wear and tear when I wash things that way.

I always wondered about turning stuff inside out since if you got anything on the clothing the soil would now be inside while it was washing. Some things it makes sense to turn inside out like velour or items that lint easily.

Unfortunately I don't live where I can do it daily nor do I really have the time and I don't have enough to make a full load that quickly even if I was able to wash that often. I usually do it at my convenience but since the storm it has become increasingly inconvenient to get it done.

I'm not that picky. I have a socks & undies load, dark / poly load, kids load, cotton adult, towels & sheets load.
