How do you deal with knee pain?

I have really bad knees and have been walking a lot lately. I try to make sure to wear comfortable sneakers whenever I can, but often I am going to work in heels or not very supportive flats. My knees have been absolutely killing me, so much that tonight I couldn't even get up and walk around my apartment. Do you have bad knees? How do you deal with walking and when it causes you pain? What should I do?

I wrecked my knee a few years ago, but I don't have a car so I have to walk to everywhere. I used to take a lot of Tylenol. If the pain is unbearable you could go to your doctor and ask for a cortisol shot. Talk to your doctor about what's going on, though, because it's possible you may need surgery on your knees. If you're walking to work, there's no need to walk in your work shoes. Just carry your work shoes with you and change them when you get to work. And make sure you leave in enough time to walk at a leisurely pace so you can reduce stress on your knees. If you walk around a lot when you're at work, try to find nice-looking shoes that are still comfortable. I had to stop wearing heels to work and found some shoes at Payless that are very comfortable.
