Would the discovery of alien life significantly alter major world religious

I believe that such a discovery would make waves in the world of religion as we know it. That's not to say that I believe there's a single person left on the planet who truly thnks we're the only living things in the universe. I think common sense has won out on that one. However, I think there are a lot of people who would have a great deal of difficulty accepting any kind of change like that, just as they do when anything changes. Let's just hope it's more like "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" and not like "Independence Day." :)

I was thinking about this topic myself not too long ago. I had asked my boyfriend what he thought about it but he didn't give me any real responce. We are two different religeons and he is taught to believe that God is the one and only God and God made man in his image and God made the world.... I asked then what would happen if aliens landed? Who would you think made them or their planet? Who made the other planets then? Things like this and he had no answer. I don't know how it would effect most religeons but it wouldn't effect my spirituality one bit.
