My daughter had really long hair..now what?

When I was small, I always had short hair, so when I got older I let it grow out and at one point it was almost down to my rear-end. Then I got it cut off to my shoulders and I cried for a week. Now, it's back down to my waist, but it took over a year to grow back. A year to a 6-year-old will seem like forever, but just keep reassuring her that she looks beautiful and as time goes by her hair will grow back and she'll have those lovely long locks again. My daughter first decided to chop off all of her hair when she was four years old. She went from having beautiful golden hair that fell midway down her back to having short golden hair that ended just below her ears. I figured she would cry about having cut off all of her hair, but she never has. She really likes the way that her hair looks and even requests that I take her to keep it trimmed all the time.
Yes, if your daughter decides that she does want long hair again, it will grow back and it won't take that long at all. Kathryn's hair grew back down her back part way in about six months following the first chop. Then, of course, she wanted it chopped again.

It probably does seem like forever, but then again she will probably be over it pretty quickly too. Not sure whether telling her how pretty she looks or just changing the subject would work better to get her mind off it though. Maybe just a hug...

Oh no... it made her cry! Anyway, i believe in your ability to appease her and convince her her hair will not be like that forever and it will surely grow. She's so cute and as early as 6 years old she knows what she wants---smart and assertive girl. Please extend my hug to her!

That reminds me of my two daughters when they were small they wanted their hair cut and they were not happy with it when they saw it on the floor.Ever since then they have grown their hair and kept it long.

My 3 year old grand daughter loves salon and hair styling. Mom and dad each (divorce) got her a hair salon setup up (toy) to play with... well she decided she was a good hair stylist and took those scissors that are supposed to be child safe and ONLY cut paper.... and cut her own hair! It was just below her shoulders with bangs... but she cut the bangs CLEAR back and the rest looked like a "mullett". Mom cut it nearly completley off...looks like a boy cut now! SHe's not to concerned but did promise not to cut again! Cutest thing about it is tho, that with her exact hair color as her daddy when he was 3... with her matching blue eyes and facial features... and the hair being so short now... she is an exact, dead ringer, identical twin of her daddy when he was 3! There have been a few times that I have even glanced at her and called her by his name in a de-ja-vue moment!!

Hello ersmommy. My niece is six years old. She has long hair. Sometimes I say to her jokingly that her hair needs to be cut short. She said that she does not want to. She loves long hair instead of short hair.

she might not was used to her hair at first, but she will love it as times go by, and hair would just grow fast so tell her not to worry about it at least she has her new hair style now.

Tell you daughter not to worry about that because she is too young and has a lot of time to let her grow even more longer than it existed. I am a person who maintained very long hari from 13 years to 25 years. Then, I found out that the look of a person changes a lot with hair style and decided to cut my hair. I felt a little sad after cutting my very long hair short because of the comments from my friends. Now, my friends are saying that I look good in short hair.

I remember when I had long hair and then had a haircut when I was fourteen. I grew my hair after that and didn't have it cut short again. Your daughter will probably let her hair grow back to how long it used to be. You could tell her how pretty her hair looks perhaps to make her feel happy. Good luck my friend.
