I'm not buying as many gifts as I usually do, because like many others, the economy is taking a toll. Immediately family and significant other only this year. My immediate family lives about 17 hours away (by car) so I have to figure in shipping costs as we won't be together this year.

I'm going home for Thanksgiving though, so I may see if I can get my shopping done by then and tell them not to open anything until Christmas! Good advice to get start ASAP though! | |

| 4. book1962 (14483) | 1 month ago |  hi BuchiBulla, I have bought some books and calendars as gifts so far, and my mom gets some practical stuff she needs and which always is in short supply at her place somehow, lol. She is 85 now and so would not enjoy eating out or new clothes or such stuff so the whole family helps her with the stuff she uses almost daily in the household.
Then we had an idea we hope most of the family and close friends will find nice. We took our wedding pic to a shop here and asked them to print that pic on coffee mugs so we will give these to family and friends.
I still dont have ideas for some near and dear people in my life but hoep I will find something nice for these too where I am currently racking my brain asking what would be nice for that person...... cause they have everything you really need....

It's hard to buy everyone expensive gifts, because there are so many people to buy for. Last year I bought everyone a pound of really good coffee from my favourite coffee shop. This year a friend of my husband's and mine just published a book, and we are planning to give my relatives copies of his book for Christmas.
