HELP! I'm planning to buy a DLSR, any suggestions?

If I will buy a DSLR, I will choose Nikon D90. Nikon is a professional brand for cameras. D90 has a new feature, that is to record the videos. In the past DSLR couldn't do this, but now this feature is able and this is a big improvement. But if you want to buy a DSLR for about USD800, I think perhaps you have to choose Olympus 520. D90 may be higher than your budget. But as a good DSLR, I think D90's price is already alright.

This really depends on your needs. If your brother is still new to photography and is just learning I suggest you buy him those entry level cameras. You could go for the Canon 1000D, Nikon D40, Olympus E420 or Sony A300. If your brother is planing to invest on lenses and accessories I suggest you should go for the Canon or Nikon. There are a lot of stores which caters for these two brands here in the Philippines. I would suggest you purchase your camera at Hidalgo street in quiapo. You could try Henry's or Mayers, their prices are quiet affordable. I wouldn't suggest buying online due to the problems of our postal service here in the Philippines.
