I remember when I was 13 my mother spiralled into a dark and deep depression over turning 35 years old. She said that 35 was the begining of the end because if life expectancy is 70 years then 35 is exactly middle aged. Well on Saturday Oct 24th I turned 35. I waited for the realization and the depression to set in, but they haven't. Not even with the economy giving most of the country reasons for depression (for once we don't have to puzzle out a complex reason on our own for our family, fiends or therapists.)have I sufferred even an instant of depression about my age or appearance. For the most part I have been positive, upbeat and ready to tear into the start of my "declining years" just like I tore into the first 34 with gusto and anticipation!
So how old are you? (u don't have to answer that!) Was there an age at which you got depressed about how old you were? Do you remember what the base cause of the depression was
I know several people who say that inside their heads they still feel ad think like they did when they were 18 or in their early20's, that is until they look in the mirror. Then it is like my bf says. "I have no idea who that old guy is in the mirror waiting to jump out on the other side of the mirror and make me think that he is me all the time" when you look into the mirror of course you can see the march of time right accross your face. As soon as you turn away from the mirror though the mind convinces you that you are still forever young!

Hi,
I always say Age is just a number. Its all about your heart and I would stick to that. I have met people as young as in their mid 20's and they are full of depresion. No real meaning of livign, no direction and leading an absolute meaning less life. And I have seen people who are above 60 still fighting , helping others and there is a purpose to wake up in the morning.
So it all depends upon what u want in your life. As far as iam concerned, Yes iam worried that iam getting old. But can i control it? The answer is NO. So whatever time i have I should utilize it in doing somehting good, something for my family, for my place, for my country.
I want to do something which the future generation can look upon and also when i stand infront of a mirror I should feel proud of myself.
A meaningful life is who has done some thing for making others happy and peaceful. I hope i will be able to do that before i die.
Cheers,
Tutul
