How many hours do you sleep each night?  |

It's commonly agreed that eight-hour sleep is preferable. But I am afraid that I can not promise that. I once read that if you can not sleep for eight hours, then it is better to sleep less than oversleep. An eight-hour less person's life span is longer than the oversleeper. I also read that if we are deprived from sufficient sleep, we tend to be more easily irritable and moody. Yeah, I find it true in many people including myself. so, how is your sleep?

1. enigma1987 (217) | 1 month ago | I sleep averagely about eight to nine hours a day. But each time i wake I just feel like going back to bed. I wish I could sleep more and more hours. I hear they say the normal hours one should sleep should be between eight to nine hours so I guess I am a normal sleeper.

2. bounce58 (729) | 1 month ago | With all the chores that need to get done at home, after the kids are put to bed, I only get to lie down at around 12:15. Then I have to get up for work at around 4:45. So that makes my sleeping hours at only 4.5 hours per day. And believe me, I am always irritable and moody! Good thing, I get to sleep in during the weekends!

If I take this sleeping tablet, I have a sound sleep for about 6 hours, other wise, I usually have a disturbed sleep. Of course I agree with you, that if somebody gets a good eight hour sleep, it is good for health.

I can stay awake for 5 days straight if needed. But I know its not healthy so I try my best to get at least 3-5 hours of rest each night.
My system is somewhat funny. Whenever I am awake for 24 hours or straight, I notice that I get more and more active. I get overactive until I am drained. During these times, I really can't force myself to sleep, so I make sure I get at least 3 hours of sleep.
The last time I was up for 5 days was during my thesis year, about 4 years ago. My teammates were sleeping and because I as so nervous I kept working. On the sixth day I was already trembling uncontrollably, having fever, and was on bed for 24 hours. (Just to clear it up, I don't do drugs.)
I don't like being sick. As far as how it affects my mood...
It is hard for me to get my sleep, really hard, so I hate it when I get disturbed. But while sleepless, no. I am always laughing when I am sleepless. Its as if my body is tiring itself so that I will be sleeping soon.
