I remember picking up this book for the first time and I was really exciting about delving into its pages! I'm always excited whenever I pick up a new book as I know that new adventures await me! Anyway, this particular book I absolutely love and I cannot remember how many times I have read it now, it's certainly more than all my fingers put together! This book is about one man returning to his past and revisiting the place he was born. It's all about deep woods, fairies, ok I don't like to admit that but it's part of the book!!
and it makes a very good read. I have spent literally hours escaping into this book. Lots of cups of tea! Cold winter rain outside, who cares! As long as I have 'Once' in my hands then I truly escape. What's your take on this book? Have you read this book and do you treasure it? Andrew

Hi Andrew,
I have not read that one yet but I do plan on it as Clive Barker is my favorite writer. I guess it is one of his more fantasy orientated books judging by your description of it. Barker has a talent of mixing horror and fantasy so effortlessly into his books.
I would recommend Weaveworld as I think that is one of his most accomplished works in my opinion. I have not been keeping up with what new books have been coming out the last while, so I guess I have a few books to catch up on.

Yes, I think that Clive Barker is great and I love all his books. I'm always on the lookout for new books being written by my favourite authors. I can really escape when I turn the pages of a book with Clive Barker as the author! Andrew

I feel a little embarrassed now as I have suddenly realised that I have made a big mistake! The author of Once is not Clive Barker but actually James Herbert! Sorry for the inconvenience. I cannot believe that I got this wrong! I haven't read the book in a while but now that you have the author's name it will be far easier for you to locate the book. I have given you a link below for the Amazon site and you can purchase either a new copy or a used copy.

Once you get the book I really hope you enjoy the book as much as I did. Andrew

Nope, have not read it. But since it is your favorite, it must be worth reading. I will check the bookstore for a copy.

Well if you do manage to pick up a copy of this book then you will be really pleased! I'm sure that you will then class it as being one of your favourites. I chop and change between Clive Barker and Stephen King, I like the both of them! It's starting to get dark early now so it's lights on but before now I was relying on natural daylight to read! Yes, I love Clive Barker and I have a few other books belonging to him. Well, I also like Stephen King but I constantly return to that book 'Once' from time to time. Andrew

Can you point me in the right direction?
