When you purchased your digital camera did you read the manual to use all the features? Or do you keep it on auto and hope for the best?

No way. I only go to the manual if I can't figure it out on my own. I personally like to mess around with it and experiment before reading the manual. Manuals are so.. boring! .

Pretty much what I do. Muck about until it looks good.... then forget what shutter speed I had it set on :)

I read the manual but it didn't make much sense to me. So I got my digital camera and experimented. With my previously owned digital camera I went on a one day course. The knowledge that I had got there really helped me. I use auto a lot because it gets great results. I am not afraid to use other settings.

I don't think I read the manual for anything. Now that I think about it, I don't even know where the manual for my digital camera is. Probably still sitting its box somewhere. I usually just bumble my way through and try to figure things out by myself. The manual is a last resort thing.
