Health care bill is the death blow to freedom

Why? Because Americans will be forced to have health insurance, or pay stiff penalties for not getting it. Any time you are forced to do something, you are not free, but a slave. Other things that are wrong with the bill:
It will cut Medicare funding to healthcare providers, who already don't get enough from the program to recoup their costs.
Force insurance companies to only pay the Medicare rates, so healthcare providers will lose money all across the board and will never be able to make up their losses. this will discourage doctors and hospitals, and make shortages of good healthcare practitioners widespread.
Taxes will be raised to cover the exorbitant costs of the program, which will put a greater burden on working Americans.
Provides extra money for low income people to afford the mandatory healthcare, but the problem is that the low income people already can get Medicaid. But what about people like me (in the $20-30,000 range) who can't get insurance through their job (mine is considered part-time, but farm workers and the self-employed also lose out), but make too much for Medicaid and not enough to afford the hundreds of dollars for private health insurance?
Insurance premiums will rise, to cover the taxes and penalties on insurance companies.
Employers will be encouraged to move out of the country, in order to avoid the taxes and extra costs of providing more health insurance to employees. So we will lose even more jobs, at a time when the economy is trying to recover.

I'm taking a brake from trying to read the thing... still got over 1,900 to go. Yeah I don't buy health insurance... not because I couldn't afford it but my husband and I choose to put or money to other things since neither of us go to the doctor often and have a great doctor who discounts our bill for not having health insurance. Medicaid is a huge problem in New York and the private practices around here can't afford to take it as is and they want this everywhere? And my grandparents are going to be the ones really in trouble. My husband and I are in the same boat as you... the middle making too much yet too little. We live on a budget but we do pretty well, only because we stick to the budget. No Dish tv, no eating out, shop at salvage food stores and aldi's. We'll pay the fine... it's cheaper for us and makes more sense with our circumstances. So we will pay for someone else who I don't know if they are lazy or really got a bad brake in life. Looking around me in my area I know more abusing government programs than those who really need assistance.

Thanks for best response. I've had to recently go to my doctors for a bad sinus and respiratory infection. My doctor's visit cost me $44 got in and got out no problem. One prescription they gave me samples they had, two I got on for $4 each. Now I think I got quite the deal. I gave up about mid way through that bill. It was obvious it's a disaster, and it's unconstitutional anyway. I don't think with the polls as they are that it will go far even if they pass it people will take it to court on the constitutionality of it. Lets just hope for the best... and keep hounding our representatives.
