Did she killed the cat?  | |  My neighbour was driving her car to the office when she heard funny sounds in her car engine. Since the traffic was quite busy she continued driving up until the sounds getting noisier with banging sound before she moved her car to the side of the road to check. As she open the engine cover, she saw her beloved cat got stuck and killed in the engine. She cried like hell by the roadside. Did she guilty of killing the cat?

| | 3.  wlee9696 (350) | 4 weeks ago |  Unfortunately more than one kitty has meet his demise in the engine of a car. cats seek out the warmth from an engine - and being cats they fall asleep - then by the time the car owner comes out and starts the engine the cat doesn't wake up until it's too late and his tale, foot, etc... is caught in the belt or other moving part. My Dad once decapitated a kitten who tried to jump in the car as he was shutting the door - it was one of those cars back in the 60s with real steel doors that were super heavy. I was little but I've never forgotten it. Was she guilty of killing the cat? Technically the cat put himself in unknown danger, she was unaware the cat was there, so I would so no.

For whatever reason(be it a search for warmth as stated by someone else, or anything else) the feline made a conscious decision to infiltrate the innards of the cars engine. I'm sure if the women realized exactly what that noise was, she would have turned the car off, gotten out and tried to save the cat.
It's unfortunate that this can happen with any small animal, but amazing that it doesn't happen more often. As a former cat owner, I've seen then resting in tires, close to the engine, as well as jumping out when they hear anything walking closer to the car.
