Andy,,Definately, move forward to the higher paying job..Although your boss may be a really nice person, we are all in this for one thing, money..You are talking about a 400 dollar difference and would be foolish not to accept that..You have to look out for yourself and your family and do whats is right for them and you..Personal relationships,if strong, will understand and will still be there when you leave..If they are not, then what was really lost? Your young and should take every advantage of moving onward and upward..Good luck

Just like you said, the boss is kind to you, i think it's not bad for your further development even if the current salary is not very satisfactory. Dont just focus on the salary, bcz not all bosses are as kind as yours. So I think you should do your work better and harder than before to get further success, then your boss will consider salary increase.

Go for the higher salary job. You may politely tell the boss that you need that extra money to plan your life and this consideration to talk to him, is because you do not want to offend a friend. If he is really a good friend he will understand and let you prosper elsewhere.But life's needs extend beyond friendship, and often you need to move on.

I think what you should do first is talk to your Boss, explain the situation to him, Say somebody is offering you $1,200 (so if he decide to a lesser offer you will have $1000). Just say to him you wanna try this job offer and you will glady come back if just in case everything does not work out in your new job. And that you wannna try it for only a week. (this gives you oppurtunity to comeback again. if thing does not work out fine), Just be sure though that your new job offer is valid and good.

why not grab the opportunity for a higher salary?we are all searching for a greener pasture...

If ur boss really treats u as a friend he would increase ur pay r he must encourage u to take tat job where u can fetch more.u r trying to merge profesionalism nd friendship .both r different nd must be treated separately.nd u must go for ur high pay job.if at all he is not in a position to increase ur pay.gud day.

Well, for practical reason, if i were you i will leave my job and shift to the other which has a higher wage of course. Considering that he is your friend, maybe i will talk to my friend who is my boss about the matter and tell him frankly about it. Since he is a friend of yours, he can understand you.And maybe advice you also to grab the chance of getting the job which offers a higher income... and the most important thing my friend is to pray to HIM and seeks for wisdom to direct you on which job you like to grab... heh, this is one is a tough one, actually i would like to have the 600 dollars one instead of the higher paying one, because when you need help the kind boss would be kind enough to support you and the high paying one will just probably ignore you and dont give a dam. I wonder if this is the situation you have to decide right now?

Firstly, congrats on the new job offer:)

Now, we know that money keeps life running, but we must also know that it's not the only thing nor is it the most important thing. There are certain other factors that you must consider before leaving for a new job:

1) Job satisfaction - Are you happy here? With other things if not the salary, e.g. the working environment, colleagues, working hours, flexibility, etc.

2) Job security - Is your job secure here or will it be there? You definitely don't want the manager saying at his own will "You're fired!".

3) Growth Opportunities - How about the job post that you hold currently, and the one you're being invited to? Are there chances of advancing further here or at the new place? And how much credibility will it hold?

Marriage could be held off for some time, because you wouldn't want to rush into things and face problems later. First develop yourself, add to and strengthen your market-value.
The main factor is that if you're young, you still do have some time to advance. If you can advance faster here and learn a lot, then you can leave in the future for a much better (even better than $1000) offer.

I've only mentioned a few things above, the factors to consider, and my personal opinions.
