Halloween is over! We went trick or treating last night.

We went with our cousins. Luckily for me, we went together. My autistic son decided to have a break down a little before an hour was up. There weren't too many houses with candy so the kids didn't have much. My son laid down in the road and started what I call winging. My cousin came back and I told him I was going to have to take him to the car. He asked if my daughter could continue with them. I thought that was wonderful. I thanked him so much. It's hard for her not to get to enjoy normal children's activities.

haha, you never grow up! Can't imagine a gang of adults going house to house to ask for candy oh! If you do that in the cities in China, I bet you end up with more rotten eggs oh! By the way, I want the candies, give me! Your boy needs to run marathon oh, then next year he can go New York and spend whole night trick or treat oh!

The adults don't ask for the candy. Although, we should have. That was a lot of work! LOL Got really good chocolates...

Too bad, next year you can get a few tear gas so that you can get a ton of chocolate. Just say "chocolate or tear gas", instead of "trick or treat", and everyone will give you all the candies. Otherwise, you throw the tear gas and let them crying through the night.

The adults may not have asked for candy door to door but there were plenty of them somewhere in her town in full costume getting their party on. Here in N.O. Halloween is like a second Mardi Gras!

If you get along with your cousin you need to let your daughter spend more time there so she can have a break from her brother while he is going through his belated "terrible two" stage. At least she got to have a little fun for a while!

I would love to but her cousin usually stays with his grandparents and they aren't up to two kids. I don't know how they manage one. Their son, the father, is a wonderful dad, but he doesn't have much time to spend with his son. I wouldn't want to ask him to take care of my daughter too.

Oh, well... so much for that. You should consider the Big Brothers, Big Sisters program. She could spend a couple hours a week with a mentor and get a break from her brother.

THanks for sharing this halloween experience with you and your kids. In our case, my kds did not have any experience going on house to house for trick or treat. Their experience was only in the school as the culminating activity for the first half of the school year (actually MJ i made a discussion about their hallowee experience hehehe you can check it it please...) THey too had an experience in the mall. It was fun and they received lots of candies. They're not scared of those scary costumes they just had fun!

Funny you said that. A man was dressed as the reaper in his garage and his wife was handing out candy. My six year old saw him and she backed away from him. His wife stood with her and told her it was her husband and he took off the costume and shook her hand. It was so cute.
