Where did all the nice people go?

As sad as it is, welcome to the world we live in today.
It is completely an "I, me and mine" society. NO one seems to care about integrity or the needs of others.
I deal with this alot. I run and operate a free clothing pantry to help people. And I rely strictly on donations. Both monetary and clothing donations. I have had to reduce the pantry hours because all donations are down.
We are a very selfish breed, especially in USA. this is a fast lane world full of technology and ways to make our lives faster and more convenient. And....if our conveniance is disturbed we don't like it.
No one is willing to have their plans or direction change because we didn't plan it that way.
All you can do is continue to be the person of integrity that you are, and hope eventually that it spreads.

Well you know as more people get hard on their luck the more likely they are not to be so nice.
Just the way things are, one thing you will notice is negativity breeds more negativity and evil.

Have you ever been to a town you never been before and everyone seemed so friendly, then drive to the next town and everyone is rude, thats the way things are.

Hi, massagefever! It is a shame that there really seem to be few nice people in this world anymore. I do believe society has gotten to the point that they only worry about themselves, and that is the way children are being brought up to feel also. There does not seem to be any more helping a neighbor, or any one else for that matter. I try to give and help others as much as i can, and even times when i really can't.

Unfortunately we live in a cold and selfish world. People seem to forget simple values and everyday common decency. Manners are no longer considered important and a lot of people are just out for what they can gain.
It's never a problem for me to do a favour for a friend but a lot of people seem to want something in return for simply helping a neighbour or member of the family. It's sad to say but it's a cut throat world and we have to be ruthless to be successful. This doesn't mean that we have to be ungrateful or disrespectful, it takes little effort to acknowledge someone's effort and make them feel appreciated.

people just arnt as nice as they used to be.. when i was younger it was safe to play outside after dark.. people always said please and thankyou.. but nope not anymore..

I don't know. Sometimes I see fleeting moments of generous and caring people..and I like to think that the good is still there, it's just being shoved aside by those who aren't so nice. As a teen, I'm often very hurt by other teens who do rude and stupid things to other people. It makes us all look bad. Anyway..what I feel like saying is: The good comes with the bad, try to help people and not take things personally, enjoy some time alone to vent with your computer or watch a movie/t.v. show that you like (House, M.D. maybe?;b), and don't lose faith in humanity (lol). I totally agree with you. I have been on that same band wagon for three years. Things keep getting worse for me and it always comes back around to nice people finish last.
