How to vote Tuesday - Darth Vader or the evil magician? What would you do?

Here in the NY- 23rd, the ads indicate we can choose between a man who would privatize social security (Doug Hoffman) throwing seniors into poverty as only a Darth Vader would do.
Our other choice is for a man (Bill Owens) who says he is a businessman but is magically (cue the scary music) a lawyer. Scozafava, the Republican has bowed out and has (get this) endorsed the Democrat Owens.
What advice would you give us folks in the NY-23rd... other than look forward to Wednesday morning when all of these ads will stop and life goes back to normal... till we do this all again next November.
What would you do?

It's yur state and your district, but since you asked. I would go for the one with out a big name brand party letter next to the name. I have come to the conclusion the only way we are going to take this country back is state by state, and by voting out the two major parties, even if we have to do it seat by seat.

Hi x fahctor: i think that's a great idea and hope this will be a reality someday. In my oppinion the major parties are usually the most corrupt everywhere and voting for independent candidates or fromm alternative parties will give them a lesson about democracy and that they won't have the power forever. Thanks for your advice.

I would go with Bill Owens and wish for the best. I can't believe it. we didn't have any commercials for voting this year on TV in New Mexico. I was thinking about it the other day and realized not one commercial. Meanwhile in New York I would have been bombarded with commercials for election day. Didn't miss that at all.

The reason you haven't been bombarded with commercials in New Mexico is that this is an off-year and the New York Congressional race is a special election to replace the Congressman who became the Secretary of the Army. Don't worry, they'll start sooner than you'd like for next year's election!

If my Social Security had been in a private fund - Stocks and bonds - I would be better off today than I will be in 5 years when I can start drawing SS. I have paid in more money into SS than my retirement yet I am recieving at 57 more money per month than I will receive in SS at 62 or 65 and there is no limit on how much money I can make. I would vote for Dough Hoffman.

What I'd PROBABLY do is vote for the evil magician...lol! We had Darth Vadar as the Vice President for 8 years so I sure wouldn't want to see him reincarnated in the U.S. Congress. The fact that so many of the far, FAR right Republicans have endorsed Hoffman over the Republican is enough for me to know he's much too conservative for me.
Since you live in that district, tell me, are the things we've been hearing about it true? I mean, I understand no Democrat has won there since Civil War times and that it's a very conservative district but is it "northeastern" conservative or Michele Bachmann conservative?

Hi valentines diner: come on lawyers are not that bad! to be a lawyer doesn't make you a bad person or a person that won't do the right think. At least you're not sure to vote for one of them and that's sad because this means that you're not pretty sure about who's the best leader. At least i won't vote for a Darth Vader considering what you're talking but i didn't know the past of that lawyer so i can assure that you have to vote for him. Hopw you take the best decition for your community. Have a nice day.

Thanks for the info! Have a great day!
