we all know that graveyard shift is late-night/early morning work but i was wondering how did this word "graveyard" use to describe the late-night work? it's because people working at graveyard shift looks like zombie or it's creepy hour or hour of the dead? what's your opinion?

It's called graveyard shift because it's when most of the work-related accidents happen. Of all the daily shifts, the late-night early morning is statistically the one reporting more accidents and fatalities.
