What time do you have dinner?

My mother in law always cooks the evening meal ready for 4pm. My parents had their dinner at 6pm ever since I remember. My husband and I? Well, somewhen between 8pm and 10pm usually. Depends when we are finished working - we are both a little bit work-a-holics!

When I was a kid dinner was always, ALWAYS, at six. It was just the way the world worked to me, I couldn't imagine it being any other way! Now that I'm all grown up and am the one responsible for dinner it's usually around 7 or 8. By the time I get home from work and get things going it would be almost impossible to make it by 6.

My point exactly. I try to cook fresh and healthy. And that makes it even later. But I still get hungry at 6 - it is what I grew up with!!

We eat dinner between 8:30 and 9:00PM during the week and Satudays and Sundays we wat at 7:00PM.
It does depend on what time my husband gets home from work and if he wants to rest first before we eat.

It seems that more people eat as late as we do. I thought most people would eat at "more reasonable hours"!

It's supposedly not good to have dinner so late. But it's the same in our house. It's just not always feasible to have dinner early when both partners are working.

I usually always try to have dinner ready by 6pm.. My husband works late alot of nights so if hes home then he eats with us but if not then I eat with the kids.. If I know he will be home at 7 or 8 then I will cook for the kids and wait to eat with my husband..

Sometimes I am home before my husband and am really hungry. Then I have dinner earlier and warm it up for him. I usually eat again though when he is home...

I guess weekends are different anyway - you have more time on your hands then.

Luckily I don't work shifts, nor does my husband. But we work so ridiculously long hours that our dinner time still has to be flexible.
