What Do The Palestinians Want?

I think that this depends upon whom you ask, frankly.

The more moderate among them would probably settle for the two-state solution. As long as they can run their own lives, they will settle for Israel being next door (though the tension will not go away completely). The borders and resources (particularly water), and the fate of Jerusalem would be the major issues to resolve.

Among the radical Islamists meanwhile, reclaiming the complete land, eradicating Israel in the process, is the only acceptable solution. This was the position of Hamas until very recently. There are contradictory noises coming out of their camp these days (idealists against realists). What will happen, we will see.

In passing, there are also still some Israelis who want a one-state solution, called Israel and running all the way from the Jordan to the Mediterranean.

Isreal is one country while the Plestinians have one government and many many different factions with each one wanting something different. It owuld be like the police in any large city sitting down with one gang and trying to end crime and make peace with all gangs. It can't be done - how do you stop crime when the very basis for the gang is crime.

I think the question is what does Israel really want, if it has not had its cake and eaten it! And I think the lively discussion was with me and another member - you seemed to walk away from arguments put to you and instead created another area on your own terms.

Use of human shields: Israel occupy civilian homes to shield themselves then blame Hamas for firing. Hamas still hold back, but Israel will fire into civilian populations.

Facts are on the ground - no need for rocket scientists to work it out, no need for a person to be a christian or a Muslim or even a Jew to see what is actually fair and where the condemnation should harshest. If we move away from the political allegiances and purely for the sake of humanity, we would condemn Israel and the IDF for it WAR CRIMES, and back the Goldsmith report, recognise that Hamas are no saints but be fair to a population of Palestinians who are caged in at the mercy of Israel in a form of ethnic cleansing.

Arguments often are presented that Israel is 'attacked' and acts in self defence. These brainwashing reports can never be justified if all people were given free access to the reports of actions of the IDF, the women and children which are mercilessly murdered but covered up, the TERRORIST actions of individual soldiers from the IDF. I mean if people knew some of the harrowing stories, the majority of the human loving public would have an outcry against, not the JEWS, but Israel and the practices in the name of self defence.

Unfortunately, the Western governments will attempt to hide most of this information from its populations but it exaggerates any kind of RETALIATION with which little means the Paletinians have in the interests of the nation supporting Israel. It is unfair and unhumane.
