Christmas, Christmas everywhere...Didn't we just have Halloween |
|
Today at work someone yelled out of their office, "OMG I found a station that plays all Christmas music. Me and another co-worker said "already?" But then once I thought about it, when I was at the grocery store last night, they had put the Halloween candy on clearance and was stocking Christmas items.
Is Christmas getting earlier? I'm thinking with all of this Christmas stuff being thrown in my face, I should start my shopping in July! LOL
Anyone done with their Christmas Shopping?

1. blue65packer (1795) | 4 weeks ago | I started some discussions on Christ the other day similair to yours! Yes they start over doing Christmas and it seems to get earlier and earlier every year! I feel Thanksgiving gets overlokked more and more every year thanks to that! I lost my Christmas spirit partly because of the stores pushing Christmas! I know I can't stop it and I shoudn't get so upset over it! Unfortunely I go through this every year! I just things were diffent and less crazy!

stacysmomstl (159) | 4 weeks ago | I'm sorry I missed your discussion. I hadn't posted in a few days. I agree with you stores are pushing Thanksgiving out of the way. It's not as big. That was one thing my co-worker and I were discussing. Where is Thanksgiving? I'd like to go back to the days when Christmas music, decor started on Black Friday!!!

| 2. trruk1 (42) | 4 weeks ago | Done with Christmas shopping? Are you kidding? I have not started. I started to think about it the other day and decided it was too soon to even worry about. I do not have any young children in the house, so I do not care what the latest must-have fad might be. The only people I buy things for are adults and they are always pleased, so I guess I get it right most of the time. One year I gave everybody (every single one) a MagLight flashlight. They are great and they last forever. I see them in handy places when I go to their house so I know they appreciate it. Sure made it easy to make a list that year.

stacysmomstl (159) | 4 weeks ago | Well I can understand you situation because you do crafts and you have to start earlier because of the details. But for people who just go and buy stuff from the department stores, it's just way too early. I wouldn't be so offended if I where in the craft store and saw Christmas items even in October because if you are making a quilt or who knows what, that takes time. But if I'm going to buy the latest iPod, do I have to see this holly jolly stuff the 1st week of November?
BTW, wish I was on your Christmas list. LOL I love getting had made things.

4. kykidd (4555) | 4 weeks ago | Well, I most certainly am not through with my Christmas shopping yet, but I have bought a couple of Christmas gifts. However, back in the day, when I had a regular job, it was not unusual for me to have almost everyone checked off my list by now.
That was because I did all of my Christmas shopping throughout the year from the clearance racks. It was especially fun when our state had the inventory tax to businesses. This made the businesses want to move that old stock off the shelves by the end of February. This made it easy and needless to say inexpensive to do my Christmas shopping extremely early. LOL
But, nowadays, I am lucky to even buy for everyone, let alone have all of my Christmas shopping done this early.

6. BulletTooth (216) | 4 weeks ago | I've had Christmas thrown in my face since early October. There are Christmas adverts on television, adverts in newspapers, supermarket leaflets being shoved through the door and some people even have outdoor decorations flashing at night. I think Christmas comes far too early, it shouldn't be mentioned until at least late November and as soon as the Christmas music starts on the radio I'll be switching it off because I don't want to feel "Christmassy" until at least mid December. Sorry if I sound like Scrooge but although I don't totally dislike everything about Christmas I'm always tired of it well before the actual day.

7. randylovesdar (489) | 4 weeks ago | I feel it is too early to start playing Christmas music. It seems like to me that a lot of people tend to forget that after Halloween is Thanksgiving. The stores have started decorating for Christmas and this disturbs me. I haven't even put much thought into Christmas yet although my husband and I have established a limit on how much to spend. Other than setting the budget, we have not started shopping yet. I know that my niece and nephews have started singing Christmas Carols (the oldest one is 7 and the younger ones are 4) and they do not know any better. My mom will be helping the kids make homemade gifts for their mom.

8. Slurpiee (100) | 4 weeks ago | I am actually most of the way done with mine. I learned from my mistakes a couple of years ago. I kept procrastinating and putting it off until I realized I had two weeks left and 18 people to shop for. That was the most rushed I have ever felt. There was NOTHING left worth anything, and the stuff that everyone wanted had had the prices raised online. I was in bad shape. Ended up giving everyone gift cards except the kids. I will never make that mistake again.

stacysmomstl (159) | 4 weeks ago | I'm a for sure procrastinator. I'm out there at the last minute because I just can't wrap by brain around Christmas until December no matter how much Christmas music I hear on the radio. I'm glad someone is more organized than I am. LOL

10. mymelodake (892) | 4 weeks ago | Here in the Philippines, Christmas starts as early as September. As soon as the "ber" months kick in, some people trot out their Christmas trees and lights and stuff, and then stores and malls begin selling Christmas decor. The radio starts playing one or two Christmas songs a day and start doing the Christmas countdown. It's funny because when October kicks in, Halloween stuff are displayed beside Christmas stuff. Personally, I don't like it. The Christmas holidays begin in December for me. Don't get me wrong, I don't hate Christmas, I love it, and we celebrate it, but seeing it that early, I don't know, it just doesn't sit well with me. I can't really explain it, but when people do that, it annoys me LOL!

mymelodake (892) | 4 weeks ago | Oh, and to answer your question on Christmas shopping, I haven't even thought about it yet. But for sure, I will be doing it come December LOL!

stacysmomstl (159) | 4 weeks ago | Really??? Wow, I'd be a scrooge if I lived down there. September I'm just thinking about the fall leaves. But of course I guess you guys don't really have that down there huh?

mymelodake (892) | 1 week ago | Haha, I guess that would make the 2 of us LOL! It's funny because we are a bunch of Scrooges in our street. For several years now, most houses in our area would be decked out in Christmas lights, except the ones on our street. And yeah, unfortunately, we only have hot season and rainy season here.
