How can one understand that they are diabetic? |
|
Diabetes is the one which is like a silent killer. One should be aware of this. A lot of care should be taken if once they become diabetic.

| swilling1 (6) | 2 months ago | I have been a diabetic on insulin for over 30 years and I am very familiar with all those symtoms. I agree that it is a silent killer just like hypertension, but more specifically I think that a diabetic learns to measure his/her bloodsugar by a feeling. It is very simple really as a well controlled diabetic tests sugar at least twice a day and after some time the reading on the glucometer starts to relate to the way one is feeling, so that after a few years you know exactly what your sugar is just by the way you feel.

2. Qaeyious (1309) | 2 months ago | Only a medical lab test can verify the condition.
Being overweight increases one chances of getting it, and being thirsty all the time is one sign you might have it. Getting pains in your feet or hands is another possible signal.
But you can have it and not have any of these symptoms. Only regular medical checkups will pick it up.

First of all, I think you need to be aware that there are basically 2 types of diabetes and the symptoms are quite the same:
Type 1 Diabetes
* Frequent urination * Unusual thirst * Extreme hunger * Unusual weight loss * Extreme fatigue and Irritability
Type 2 Diabetes*
* Any of the type 1 symptoms * Frequent infections * Blurred vision * Cuts/bruises that are slow to heal * Tingling/numbness in the hands/feet * Recurring skin, gum, or bladder infections
* Often people with type 2 diabetes have no symptoms!
As you can see, the symptoms here can be quite similar with certain everyday ailments or stress and it could be confusing for an average person. So, the only way for early detection for such conditions will be an annual full body check up. Or else, there is just no certainty if such condition or any other severe conditions can be picked up at all.
So, take care and have a nice day.
