Is there anyone out there who completely despises "twilight girls"? I thought the books were okay. mediocre at best. and the movies butchered the small shred of ok-ness that was in the books. But then there are the girl, oh my, really? do they have to run around screaming about how they want to marry Edward and be a vampire? seriously, it's just a badly written book made into a poorly executed movie.

I tried to read Twilight but I gave up after the first 100 pages. I agree that it's mediocre and I don't understand why it's so popular. Something that really makes me angry about Twilight is that it caused a huge trend of people liking vampires. This makes me mad because when I got into the vampire animes Hellsing and Trinity Blood about 3 years ago, hardly anyone liked vampires and I thought it was a unique interest that I could call my own. Now every teenage girl and their mom likes vampires, so it's not so unique anymore...

I love the books. However, I am at the stage where I want to read books that don't stress me out as my life is stressful enough and I just want an enjoyable book. Meyer's writing style is different, but I think its great. She can't pull off an AMAZING plot like Dean Koontz, JK Rowling, or any of the other great authors out there, but she does fine. The movie...yes, it butchers the books. I have to agree there. I still went to see it, and I have to keep the movie and book separate in my mine, but maybe Twilight fans such as myself will be lucky enough to see a remake in the future...

It's hard for me to despise anyone, no matter what popular fad they are into these days. Whether I agree with their opinion or not, at worst I feel a mild irritation for the following reasons:
1) The books were not particuarly well written or engaging.
2) The main 'heroine' was simply pathetic, and set back women's lib by about 20 years.
3) Romanticizing vampires has been done. And done. And done. And done.*sigh*
However, like all fads, it will pass. These people will (mostly) grow and mature, realise the story is what it is (a gratuitous attempt at moneymaking) and move on.
They always do.

Kind regards,
Simplicity.

I cannot stand it because I cannot stand Edward and Bella. Edward is an abuser and Bella is the classic victim. This story is geared toward teen girls who don't know what it is like to be in a relationship.

If I'd been a twilighter, I would have asked the moderators doing everything in my power to have this post deleted. Good thing I'm not!lol

Well I'm not 100% anti-twilight. I have never read the book so I couldn't really say if I'd liked it or not. I have watched the movie and I guess it wasn't too bad. My bestfriend was addicted to the books way way way way back and well I guess the addiction got contagious and suddenly somebody came up of making a movie out of it. Maybe at some certain degree the book was worth the attention just like Harry Potter made it to motion pictures. It's the exaggerated obsession of some people to it and my God even to vampires whose existence are questionable, if not, impossible, that really had me so puzzled.

I guess we just have different views on stuffs. I also liked Transformers but I would really feel sick if somebody would go shrieking and telling the world she would love to marry Optimus Prime. blink

hi
The books are meant for a teen audience I've read all of them to. I saw the first movie it was o.k. The writing wasn't very challenging your right I'm into vampire movies and books my first one I got hooked on was anne rice she's still one of my favorites and some of the stuff with this one was kind of bit kiddy. I like Bram stoker's Dracula the movie is awsome there's a book for it never read it yet. There's lot's of other authors out there that write vampire books. Karen Chance I think you'd like her she writes amazing an her vocabulary is pretty good. She got me hooked after a page. There's another I like to the true blood series is based on the books. It's by Charlaine Harris she's an easy read I'm on the second book, yep twilight was o.k. I think a lot of people might have read it cuz everyone was reading it. guilty as charged they were all talking about it.

I don't think I know this one. But like I say all books need to be given a chance. If the book doesn't grab you by the 5th chapter pass it on to a friend and open another.
